My chuck's first egg! I'm like a proud parent, tear in the eye, the works.
But, seriously, if my hubby thinks I'm poaching it after all the trouble Nancy/Betty went to he's deluded!
I'll get him a cream egg tomorrow when I go to buy my girls some grapes!!!

What's made everyone else's day?

Do remember that the eggy~contents will eventually go off {had this happen with an egg one of our bods laid, and it's not pleasant :puke: :puke: :puke: }

Maybe blow the contents and use them, then keep the shell on display in a special place. To blow the egg, a small hole is needed at the top, with a larger one at the bottom and you literally blow thru the hole in the top, and the contacts should come out thru the one in the bottom. {Done this as well, with the first egg laid by one of the ex~batts we used to have.}

What's made my day today......a shrug that I ordered has arrived and it looks even better than it did in the photos. And DaftDog being just that always makes my day....today's antics included me making pincer actions at her while saying I'm going to pinch your Rubber~Nosie. Her response....to do the Wall Of Death around the garden, incl the chicken run half a dozen times :dogrun1:

Thanks for the tip, I had planned to hardboil and paint it but will empty the shell first now.
It's certainly the right time for a lovely new shrug, I hope you're enjoying it!
DaftDog looks full of mischief, never a dull moment with our feathery and furry friends is there?

Two rescue hens, commercial browns called Betty and Nancy after my late great aunts.
Do you have birds?

We have 5 budgies, one for each grandchild, LOL

For years I lived on a farm and we always had chickens and turkeys. I keep teasing my hubby and say I am bringing a rooster home for a pet. He said I would have to move back to the farm....he didn't say if that would be alone though, LOL,

I have never heard of a rescue shelter for hens. Please tell more.

My hubby's a herdsman so we live just down the lane from a farm. In the summer we borrowed a pregnant cow called Lily to do some light maintainence in the paddock, she was a brilliant character and a sucker for my lilacs lol!
If you google rescue hens you should find open days held in your area. Oddly we got our girls via a hardware store.
If I got a rooster it'd be my hubby moving to a farm, vicious creatures lol!
Do you miss farm life much?
