good luck both of you, hope you both get the right decision. :fingerscrossed: hope it all goes well and that reconsideration is all it takes for you both.

thanks mct i had taht with gp, what is their problem they sseem to want to create more effort for us.

it was the same when i wanted to be refered back to rheumy i had seen before i moved area - he wanted my history before he decided if i needed refering. rheumy secretary said we don't normally do that, thats his job - i agree, so hence no referral and don't think he is very cooperative so have seen another since instead.

That's a good idea, I'll look into it. Will see what my GP's secretary says next week. If they're reluctant to do it then I'll ask the CAB if they can help explain that I need a self written report by my GP to increase my chances. I can also try my new GP and see if he'll write something in my favour as well.

I'm hoping the Rheumy's office will ring back and send me a copy of their report (the lady said she had to ask the Dr if they're happy for me to see it). It all seems a bit silly - the DWP would have to show me it under DPA rules anyway so they may as well just send it direct and help me out.

I've written my appeal letter and given a summary of why I disagree with the decision. I got into a roll with it last night - the slight shock of being turned down and the associated sadness has now turned to anger so I felt able to counteract all their claims (politely of course). I'm going to review it this morning and send. My list of reasons why is attached seperately and I actually think I'll send those at a later date once I've fully triangulated all my evidence. The DM seems to disagree with some of the findings of the ESA medical and I think that could stand in my favour.

So I'll go back to the brief 'I don't believe the DM has fully taken into consideration the level of help I need with XYZ etc' and send the more detailed reasons once I have a dossier to hit them back with.

Thanks Ldyalb,
sorry it took a while to answer.
I got middle rate for care and lower for mobility, I have made an appointment to see my doctor hoping he can help, I am not holding my breath. I hope you have some good luck with your claim! I haven't quite reached the anger stage yet but I think I will get there. My partner Tony has he is fuming he is walking round "if they had to live with you they would change there minds" I he is definitely at the anger stage. Hahaha! It's a good job i can still laugh.

:goodluck1: I hope you get a better outcome this time.

I had yet another fall today. Really painful this one was. I'm going swimming at 9 and hoping the gentle exercise will help my legs.

So much for 'you are not at risk of trips and falls'. I'd like to give the Decision Maker Joint Hypermobility Syndrome for a few weeks - see how they get on with ankles which roll in their sockets. Bet they'd have a fair few falls!

Hi all..
I got the dreaded brown envelope today saying I am not allowd DLA. (similar to Ldyalb).
It took them 2 weeks to asses my situation. I rang them up and asked if they had any evidence from my GP and the lady said it's not showing anything on the system, I also told them I am appealing the medical that I failed and she told me that the medical does not come into it so how come they state in the letter the following...
I made my decision using the information about your illness and disabilities from:

your claim form
"the health care professional who examined you fro ESA Allowance on 01/02/2012"

Are these people having a laugh at our expense saying one thing and doing another...
I can't seem to grasp that she told me that they don't use the medical but in the letter they say they have and even though I am appealing it does not come into it...AAArrrrgh. Very upset and on my birthday.
I will be appealing the DLA rejection and putting in a whole load more with a bit of sarcasm.

KEEP WELL

Sorry to hear you've also been turned down :(

I had a letter last week which said they'd received my letter stating I wish to appeal and that I should hear within about 11 weeks (their time management is rubbish, suggests they need to hire more staff to process the admin. Especially as there's 3 million off peeps out of work atm) if they've overturned the decision after a reconsideration.

Honestly I think they are having a laugh, the contradictions in what they say and what they do could be spotted by a 5 year old.

I'd advise you to contact someone like the CAB to get advice with the appeal. Don't forget you'll need form GL24 which can be downloaded here - http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Diol1/DoItOnline/DG_4017514

and they need to receive that within a month of the date on the letter.

Time to fight the power!! :shooting:

i think they just send a standard response letter out for first reply and up to first year hoping that you will give up reconsideration, appeal, etc.

what a battlle i suppose if we are fit enough to fight then again we cant possibly be as ill as we say in esa/dla terms.

it seems that on first application they send a refusal letter and make you send a letter asking for reconsideration in the hopes that you will give up. I sent a two page letter asking for a reconsideration, as much medical paperwork (Doctors letters, specialist's reports that I have copies of etc), and the paperwork from my ESA paperwork, that I could put my hands on.

Getting CAB or a similar organisations help is a very good idea.

Hi Fliss, is that to Monkey Features (the poster who posted pics direct) or to me (who posted the following weblink to pictures)?

http://s1177.photobucket.com/albums/x350/Ldyalb/Hands/

I'm now 6 weeks and 5 days in to my 10 week wait. It can't come soon enough. I'm struggling more and more with the stiffness in my joints and really want to know what's wrong with me now. For the first time since I was referred an appointment has been made available for me to book online - 9:30am on Thursday 17th May. I can't make that as I have to catch 2 buses to the Hospital and it'll take over an hour, possibly even longer as I'd be travelling into my nearest city during the morning rush hour to get there before 9 to get to the Hospital.

It says in the letter they'll ring two-three weeks before my appointment to book it. But it's annoying as it's hard to make plans. I have a friend I haven't seen for two years coming to stay, and my best friend is coming down in a few weeks as well. I'm her Chief Bridesmaid (she gets married in April 2013) and we need to start getting my dress etc sorted. But I don't want to make solid plans in case the Hospital want to see me that day.

As you can probably tell - I am not a patient woman lol. And when I lived in London I saw a Rheumy 3 weeks after receiving my choose and book letter. I'm not used to living in Hicksville and having to wait aaaages to see a medical professionalc

That's the problem. Is it early stages of P or is it a worsening of my Eczema? Hard to say until the Rheumy sees it and can give me his/her opinion.

My GP seems pretty sure I do have Nail Psoriasis as nail pitting is much more common in people with PA then it is in people with just P. Also my nails have started to detach which is also a feature of nail Psoriasis. I'm now rubbing Fucidin ointment into my nails 3 times a day to keep them clean. The area around my nails is warm to the touch and a bit red so the Nurse I saw 8 days ago said it was best to use anti-septic ointment

But it's sending me  not knowing. The majority of people with PA (about 80-85%) get P first, then PA. But some get PA first and don't get P until decades later. Some will only have very mild P, or just Nail P.

Rheumy visit can't come soon enough :-)
