awauting myself to see if thats what i'm going to get, but having had an atos doc visit before, ...best advice...keep calm, check your home for sensible things...not too cluttered if you have difficulty getting round..make sure your meds are in easy treach if you struggle to stretch/reach up...etc etc. Possibly even comile yourself a list of anything important you think the doc needs to know about and note down..cos you'll always forget in the spur of the moment and if doc doesn't ask you something you think is relevant, make sure you tell him! If it's a limited capabilty for work assesment i assume it is) this link may be helpfull in what to expect they are looking at ..http://www.tameside.gov.uk/esa/lcwra. But above all keep it honest but impress if it isn't as bad a day as usual..fair and honest is best advice x..and above all else..good luck x

i had a home visit for my dla medical.....doc was really nice, read back to me everything he wrote down and included a 5 page statement from us about my health.

i would advise using visual clues.....if you have to sleep downstairs sometimes (for example) have some bedding nearby in sight to back that up. keep everything in reach of where you sit. explain everything multiple times if necessary....dont worry about repeating yourself as it will get the point across.

good luck!

Hope you get a decent doc!Best thing is have someone with you-like yournice mum!Get her to answer the doorwhen doc comes. When !had myhome visit I sat at diningroom table &doc sat at the other end.Lay out allyour boxes of meds for him to see.Alsoput out all hospital letters .consultants .physio etc.

If your hip is still really bad emphasise this as getting around .walkingcarries a lot of points for esa.If your balance is still bad try to have the room arranged to show how you might need to hold on to furniture to get around. If your meds cause side effects like drowsiness. dizziness let the doc know & keep repeating this .

It is ok to refuse any part of the medical if it increases your pain so dont be afraid to say so.If you need to lie down during the day say so.Igave my doc some written notesabout me in case Icouldnt remember things or couldnt think straight. He took them away with him as part of evidence.

Be careful how you answer questions to do with hobbies .any social life or driving but be as honest as you can.Esa support is hard to get but Ithink your chances are higher having a home visit :goodluck2: :goodluck2: :goodluck2:

To be honest, i dress every day in mens loungewear....bit like pjs....but i have to admit i did wear a dressing gown for the appointment to emphasise this a bit more.

i would also suggest typing a list of your daily medication regime....im on about 35 tablets across the day, so i have a schedule of what i take and when including pictures of the tablets themselves because i was getting confused as to what to take and when....i gave a copy of this to the doc too. he actually said that helps a lot to understand the amount i was on, and he couldnt understand how i cohld even stand up, let alone walk!

the whole statement of fact thing regarding your health, plus a statement from your immediate carer (wife/husband/partner) goes a hell of a long way, and they're obliged to take it into account.

bottom line is push everything, more than once if necessary. this is the person that ultimately suggests to DWP what you should get, and if that tv report is anything to go by they usually do.

I did all this and have been awarded HRM and MRC.

sounds to me like a lot of side effects of the meds.

i'm the same....was throwing up a lot, so they give something to stop that. its meds upon meds!
