DWP RAGE.

Postby oorwullie » Wed Aug 22, 2012 11:39 am

Hi all, looking for a bit of advice. As some of you will know I was asked to renew my claim for ESA in February. I filled in the ESA form and sent it to Atos. My benefit was stopped on the 17th of March due to Atos claiming they hadn't received my ESA 50 form by the cut off return point. They had, the had just made an error as usual. After much toing and froing and me sending in my evidence again to the DWP decison maker I received a decison that on the 29th of April I had been placed in the WRAG group. On the letter I received from the DWP it says that they had made this decision based on the ESA50 form I sent in and the additional evidence I supplied from Specialists and doctors etc. Today I received a letter from ATOS informing me that they have been asked by DWP to carry out a medical on the 7 of September. I phoned the DWP to ask why I am being asked to attend a medical so soon after being placed in the WRAG group on the 29th of April and also informed them that I have had no new ESA50 form to fill in. The lady I spoke to could only say as it was a new claim I would have to go for a medical, at which point I advised her that it was not a new claim it was a continuation of a claim and my benefit had only been stopped due to a balls up by ATOS. I also informed her that even if it was a new claim I have the letter sitting in front of me that I do not have to attend a medical as they placed me in the WRAG on the ESA50 form and evidence I provided. I am currently awaiting a callback from them but I am so stressed at the moment. Anybody got any idea whats going on? :yikes:

mmmm Sounds familiar :(
Sadly it is my experience that as they don't know what is going on themselves, then we don't have a hope in hell :(
Hope you get it sorted quickly :goodluck1:

You seem to forget that the DWP suffer from "A&E" syndrome... not knowing their a*se from their elbow!

As the Vogons said "resistance is useless" :(

Sorry I can't help with regards to what's going on and I hope they sort it out soon for you - but it is a timely reminder to us all ..... when sending in paperwork, letters, forms etc, always pay a little extra and get them sent by Recorded Delivery. That way you will have proof that they have received it.

My husband has recently had to apply for ESA and although he was given pre-paid addressed envelopes to return them in, he used a plain envelope and we paid the postage ourselves, as we have been caught out like you were in the past

Again it seems that atos has confused itself, and may need many explanations, before the penny drops.

Yup, A&E syndrome definately..and more inportantly...the people you speek to when you ring up are nothing more than filling clerks (not that a filling clerk isn't a very useful job - espeically if done properly)..the people who ring you back are the people who actually deal with claims, etc,,,and deprtments are not communicating.. I send all dwp stuff recorded delivery at my own expense for years as their mail loss rate is owrse than royal mails!! It does seam though through perserverance that these things can get sorted out eventually...and if you don't hear back on any matter within two weeks ,ring them as that probaly means they messed it up

Hello all, thanks for your messages and support. I received my callback from the DWP and they have now decided I need to attend a medical regarding the ESA50 form I sent in in March. A mix up at their end surprise surprise. They couldn't answer my questions as to what had gone wrong and why it has taken 5 months to arrange a medical. I'll be taking all my documents with me though as luckily enough I photocopied them all and will be handing them to the ATOS medical person, I darent say doctor as I probably won't see a doctor. Also i'm on a lot of different medication and a lot stronger medication than I was in March and I'm also on 2 crutches now instead of on the advice of the physio at the pain clinic i'm attending so I don't know if they will take this into account at the medical.

You can use the prepaid envelope and just pay the difference to send the letter/package by Recorded/Signed For delivery. We've done this for a number of things and they've got to their destination pretty much hassle free.

I can honestly feel for all the anguish you're all feeling at the moment. The DWP finally managed to push me to a suicide attempt. These are not people but mere parasites justifying their own existance. After becoming homeless again and then being found by a charity, I was sent for an ATOS medical for which I didn't see the report, I was refused DLA and made to feel like a scrounger for the ESA that they cut off as soon as I didn't have an in date fit note, being too ill to get to the doctors doesn't count for anything they just cut it off and waited for me to call when I had no money left. I'm a 31 year old man that served in our armed forces, the MOD don't give a monkeys once they've had their pound of meat. I have now returned to work so that I don't have to deal with any of these cretins, the pain and tiredness are soul destroying but I will continue to avoid these agencies of non entities for as long as possible. Just to clarify, I can't get anywhere near a formal diagnosis because the NHS caused this when I was a boy and have left me to rot since, I only found out what was wrong a few months ago. Until then I had been constantly dismissed as a hypochondriac and socially inept.

Mark

I understand your frustration and anger but I think you are falling into the area of throwing your anger on to the wrong people. The people within DWP and i'm sure other agencies have to work within the paramerters set by the Senior Managers and Politicians. Alot of the staff are as frustrated as you get as they get the angry customers and the powers that be telling them what they have todo.

I am glad that you have now sorted everything else out and wish you luck but;

I think your final rant is out of order and offensive to many . I was one of those frustrated people who worked for DWP who had their hands tied and were told what we were allowed to do. I am now retired from there due to my fibro and understand your frustrations and hope the rant helped but please dont put everyone in the same category.

Good Luck. :goodluck2:

Mark, I've removed the last paragraph of your post as it was offensive and upsetting to others. We all have our gripes about Atos and DWP and the things their actions put us thru. There are constructive and effective ways to convey a message without wishing the things you did on people who are probably just as frustrated and angry about the service that they have provide due to the "management on high" as we are with what we receive.

Sorry for that, but getting dressed in cotton wool and dancing around the diplomatic table isn't working for any of us because the powers that be and policy makers know that we as a population will just roll over go home and write a letter, how bad is it ever going to get for the people who make running our lives a misery?

I have emailed the solicitors outlining my concerns but I've not heard anything back.

Hi

I always do this as some papers i sent in also went missing!!! Just to save a little bit of money when sending it in recorded delivery is to use the prepaid envelope and that way dwp pay some of the postage and you just pay the extra!!! Times are hard so if i can save something it helps, i know its only pence but that adds up!!!
