ESA maybe stopped if you dont take on treatments

Postby *Lisa* » Tue Nov 06, 2012 1:35 pm

See here... http://news.sky.com/story/1007543/sickn ... -25m-trial

I must have spent over 5,000! and counting!! over 15yrs (IN LOANS/STILL IN DEBT!!!) of treatments to help my conditions as they were not *funded* on NHS

This consisted of....

10yrs plus and still going on of hands on reglular physio which has varied from 40/50 a time plus travel but luckily now shes mobile and comes to me.
10 sessions of private CBT (anxiety) at 90 a time plus 20 travel each time
1 year of councilling by a charity (womens resource centre) 6.00 a time plus travel as am on DLA so got it cheap!
Massages/reflexology/indian head massage all for stiffness and pain not for relaxation
Chiropractor 60 plus a time
Mountains of different vitamins and herbal remadies tried out of the years
Private councilling 35 a time plus travel
Alexandra technique to help posture 20 a session plus travel!
All sorts of massage machines/wheat bags and OTC lotions and potions!

Added to that 2 x private rhuemi consultants at 250 a time plus travel

Many more over the years (can think no more)

This is all because i wanted/needed help and pain management. The GP couldnt refer me to MHT as no funding (was told id be better of a drug addict or alchoholic!) and unless i tried to kill myself or others i couldnt be refered!!!! plus NHS do not fund people they cannot cure for physio yet this is a huge factor of my pain management so i have to have it private.

The only help on NHS iv had is CBT (depression) this was a few years back after having an intense coversation sayin i am not footing the bill for any more CBT!! as already spent over a grand on the CBT (anxiety) which helped so much and was needing it for depression as was DX with severe depression.

I had to pay privatly to see the rhuemi's as symptoms were worse and no referal from GP and funnily enough 2 x conditions on top of fibro were also diagnosed yet no referal!!

I was told my MHT (letter as proof) from an assessment last year i was in top part and diagnosed as *severe depression* YET was told no counsilling on NHS so had to seek and pay privatly.

All the GP's have ever done is shove pills down my throat...

So if this is there new crackdown it will be interesting what treatments i will now be given! (huh) to help my conditions :-? iv exhausted them all out and now have my own pain management in order so this will be interesting as all i ever wanted was help now i can turn this all back on them! :!:

I wish i could afford private i can barely afford to eat, count yourself lucky. My GP still thinks he can cure it, he's a miracle worker.

Hold on !!

I borrowed the money over 5yrs ago as i was desperate and in a bad place!

I still owe aload a cash and since then my life has taken a dramatic turn for the worse and now like many others rely on benefits to survive but with this still over my head i am in more of a bad financial place ever b4!!

People (like myself) will do anything to get help when your at breaking point in life!

As a matter of fact i lost everything! my home/family/pets/work the whole shabam!! so please dont give me that **lucky me** response

In fact that private consultation done nothing to help me apart from add a few more conditions to the every growing list, i didnt get anymore help then a NHS consultant!

I choose to pay for physio, that or a wheel chair ! (what one would u choose!!) so i live on basic food and dont own a scratch to for myself, no holidays ... nothing! i am typin on a second hand (gave to me free) laptop, i only have a 10pound mobile phone (brought for me) which i cannot top up! i am living in same clothes iv had for many years!! list goes on but im not here to justify myself to anyone just thought pwoplw may need to read the link to whats happening in the future.

From other sources I've read this will be a pilot project for the first year or two ( yes we could all be cynical and say that's just the beginning but as yet its just a pilot so we can worry about a rollout later if it should arise).

The same article also refered to the main group that is to be affected are those for whom there is an acknowledged therapy but who for one reason or another can't /won't/don't either start or complete the course of treatment.
The paper highlighted the first such group to be reviewed in the pilot areas where to be those with an addiction problem such as drug addicts or alcoholics.

Given what we and main stream medcine know about FM, I think we will be right at the bottom of the list of folk that will be in the pilot. Even the government can't get results :nono: if there is still no overall acknowledgement of either the cause or treatment for this hateful illness.
I think we would all agree that we would prefer to be back to our old selves than the way we are now.

lisa,
with regard to my post, i did not mean a snipe at you i meant the govenment instead of me having to pay like you have. ifyou get what i mean.

i meant i spent what i had and more until me and oh finally went bankcrupt just over a year ago so no more access to credit.

i hope you diidn;t think i was diggin at you i menat i am with you on your attitude of trying as much as we could to find a cure then i have given up when realised wasn't happening.
if i get some insurance money from my car crash i will be trying everything i can possibly afford again toimprove as much as possible.

:-) :-) :-)

Let's just get these posh boys with no real life experience out of government playing with our lives and get the Labour party back in. They are making our sick people more sicker and our poor people poorer.

Whilst they play games from their million pound houses. Makes me sick. Pun intended

Lisa,

Years ago I was referred to the Pain clinic due to pain from diabetic neuropathy and slipped discs. They arranged a number of treatments ,Acupuncture, Aromatherapy massage, physiotherapy techniques, spinal pain block injections, all different medications as well as pain distraction visualisation tecniques counselling- those sessions wre run at the local MH hospital . All on the NHS. Didn't seem to be any limit on the different services the pain consultant could get me access to .

Not sure if I just had a good consultant back then or if things in the NHS have now changed but if you've not been seen by them might be worth asking your GP. Ongoing pain management is their spcialised field.

It sounds like you had a great team at the Pain Clinic zappa, I just wish it was the same all over the country. Pain Clinics are something that pops up on a fairly regular basis and the one thing that sticks out about the various posts and experiences is how inconsistent they can be. Some are like yours, giving you access to extra treatments and help in all sorts of area. On the flip side tho, others are the complete opposite    Whether this is due to limited funding or other issues, I don't know :dunno: :dunno:

Maybe it's just my naive way at looking at things, but I think we should all be able to access the same standards and levels of care/treatment regardless of where we are in the country.

Can someone please help me get off the soap box now, I've gone a bit woozy
