So I'm out of work....

Postby FinkyDink » Sun May 12, 2013 5:26 pm

Handed my notice in 4 weeks ago and as of tomorrow I'm unemployed.

Applied online for JSA over the weekend and apparently the next stage is an interview at the job centre. Really not looking forward to that, don't like going to new places.

I made sure in my letter of notice that I referred to my health being the reason for leaving, so hopefully should be eligible for JSA at least. However I am going to ask about other benefits, if I'm entitled to them I'm gonna have them!!

I am going to get back into work but just need a job that fits my condition.

you could apply for ESA or JSA, but your GP can give you a "Fit Note" and state on it what your limitations are, that way they can't get you to apply for jobs you are physically unable to do

Hey FinkyDink,

Think you might find that you can't get JSA straight away if you voluntarily hand in your notice. I had an operation and realised that as a result I could no longer do my job. When I rang DWP and enquired they said not JSA but ESA (Which is at same rate as JSA for 13 weeks anyway). This was only a month ago so don't suppose it has changed.

Hope you get things sorted.

I don't mind, as I say all this is totally new to me. As long as I can earn something to pay the bills. Won't pay the mortgage but hey :/

There us a payment that can be made to help you pay the mortgage interest of your mortgage depending on your circumstances. This is instead of housing benefit as you own your own home....you may find this link useful, although its Scotland you can change it to England etc

So I've received a letter today saying there is a 'doubt' on my claim as it 'appears' that I left my job voluntarily.

I must have forgotten the box I ticked to say 'I volunteer to have fibromyalgia' then :/

If there is a doubt, what will happen? Is it definite that I wont get anything and should I appeal now, or wait?

I don't know why I'm stressing over £70 but it's better than nothing.

Well, I once had a job like that! Unfortunately I left as I relocated. However, finally a similar role has come up down here and I'm through to interview stage. Compared to what wage I was on when teaching, it isn't great though but I'll settle for a job I am capable of doing!!

Also got a referral through from job centre for the disability advisor, its in a few weeks time, I might have a job by then!
