DLA Atos medical

Postby leewhyte » Sat Jun 01, 2013 11:09 am

Hey all,

I've just received a letter stating that the DWP is going to arrange an ATOS HCP to do a medical in my home in regards to my DLA.

Is there any advice you can give me as last time I had a medical from this organization I was scored with 0 points and half the stuff she put on the form wasnt bout me or what I said.

This time I've kept the medical letters as evidence which I'll show them.

Ive been visited twice the first time I got it the second I didn't,,he introduces himself then sits with a form in front of him asking you questions, he does ask you to get up from a chair, can you touch your toes, how far can you walk and also about cooking, personal hygiene etc. he writes away, doesn't usually chat until the session is over,
I was interviewed at night because of the amount of work they had on, it was 7.30pm and he asked why I had my nightie on, he thought I was pulling his leg when I said Im gonna go bed when you go lol,,
I would not worry too much about it, take care :-D

I had a visit at home, didnt know he was coming as the letter arrived 4 days after he had been !! He asked me to show my meds, asked questions on daily routine, how I cope with the kids, what aids I had, he got me to touch my toes ( well as close as I could), got me to lay on sofa and lift my legs. Touched some tender points. That was about it. I was really upset I was not prepared at all, had no one to help me, no paper work to show him etc. and now I am told I can't have another one. Oh and I now have been turned down for DLA so I am appealing.
Hope it works out better for you xxx

I had a home medical for DLA, and I was lucky that the doctor was really good.

He asked me loads of questions, asked me to walk up and down our long living room, he didn't even ask me to try the stairs.

I gave him a written statement from me and my wife all about our day to day life with my disability....they are obliged to read AND include any written information you give them. He even referred to my statement on the official form, so I know for sure it went in.

I ended up being awarded High Rate Mobility and Medium Rate Care....it was originally given for about 14 months, and I've just renewed without another medical and been awarded the same again for 2 years this time.

So I would suggest writing up a statement....be as long as you like....and make sure it's added in.
Diagnosed : ME/FM, CFS,CPS, IBS, ADHD : Medications : Mirtazapine 45mg, Paracetamol 4gram a day, Omeprazole 40mg, Dompperidone 30mg, Morphine (tabs) 120mg, Morphine (liquid) 100mg twice a day
