NHS Pension refused

Postby migrembe » Tue Sep 10, 2013 11:33 am

I was refused my NHS pension last year after i was found unfit for work on the grounds 'that i might get better and be able to return to my job'. However the only only thing i have done is got worse. I can appeal against the decision but up to now i haven't. but is anyone else in the same situation or has anyone else been successful in their claim? Where do i go from here and is there any likelihood that i will ever be successful?

I really need the money as i am struggling to keep a house going that i cannot afford to even sell.

Sorry to hear you have been refused, appeal the decision and ask your GP to help, maybe they and/or other health professionals that you deal with could write you a letter explaining your prognosis which may add weight to your claim. :fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed: you can get the decision overturned.

Have you had any help at all with the process, have you considered asking CAB or DIAL :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

What type of pension are you referring to? Retirement? ...or an early one on the grounds of ill health? With any claim or appeal for any benefit I would enlist the help of your local welfare rights office, telephone number usually in yellow pages ..they just specialise in benefits and help every step of the way. Hope you are successful with your appeal which you must pursue Sorry I can`t be of any help I`m not very up to date on benefit these day with being retired :(

If you're still technically employed by the NHS, could someone from Occy Health or HR be able to advise you?? Or, if you were part of a union or staff association, they may be able to point you in the right direct.

It's difficult to say if you will be successful or not, but having as much evidence as possible to support your case can only be a good thing.

If your dog doesn't like someone, then you probably shouldn't either

Sorry i have been absent. Thank you for your advice. It seems CAB seems to be the useful place to go. No longer employed by anyone as occy health said that after 18 months on sick from work and no foreseeable return (more than 6 months) i would be unlikely to ever be well enough to return to work. I agreed with them and i was dismissed on grounds of ill-health both physical and mental, as the depression is probably as debilitating as the FMS and arthritis is.

At the same time as all the work stuff was going on i was fighting for DLA and ESA support group, which i got after a year and a home visit.

I intend to pursue the claim but wasn't sure where to start. All i do know is that there is no time limit as to when the appeal as to be in. Will let you know. :cat2: :cat1:
