support letters to submit to tribunal

hello. i am having to go to tribunal next month as after 8 years on IB ATOS decided i would be fit to work after 365 days, ie WRAG. I have family and friends who want to write to the tribunal to support my appeal. Has anyone been through this process and give them advice on what sort of things to write....as they are so close to me, they are worried whatever they write will be too personal an actually not focus on what is important for tribunal to hear about my condition. I would be very grateful for any advice as I am beyond the point of dealing with ATOS/DWP et al and can't get past the fibro fog to see wood for trees. thanks gill

Hi
The tribunal will take no notice of any letters wrote by family or friends only from your own medical team and any letters from specialist and consultants. I no they want to help and show you there support but they won't except them. Sorry I cannot give you any better news.
I suppose in reality if they did take notice of the letters we got from family and friends then there would be so many people conning the system by getting people to write false statements. It is because of people faking there illness that real people like ourselves are having to jump through these hoops proving how ill we are for the pittance they give us.
My best advice us get your own GP to write everything down in a letter you may have to pay for this but will be worth it. My own GP says the form they get from DWP isn't big enough for them to write evreything down so a long letter is much better, also as I said any specialist letters you may have.
Again sorry to say family and friends letters just won't wash with the tribunal.
Good luck

all I can say is I have been to two tribunals letters from your own gp are good also from hospitals I had other things as well as fibro first time I was put in wrag then into support group which I have been in for two years no doubt I will be recalled sometime again anyway as you know atos are not fit for purpose and they have lost the contract and also there is a massive back log I wish you all the best for your tribunal plmk how you get on, colski.

Letters of support in order of effectiveness:
a) Hospital Consultant or Specialist
b) your GP
c) (varies depending on where you live) chiropractor/osteopath/holistic practitioner recognised by the Medical Profession

d) friends/colleagues/family.....zilch, nada, nothing, waste of paper.

So sorry, this is so unfair. But wishing you all the best. :( And the backlog is huuuuuuuge. Another idea illogically thought out.

Hi Gilld

For the tribunal take evidence from your multi clinical team and get advice and someone to go with you.

If you have a support worker these can be good I went a couple of times to support people when I was one and we won as well
Employment workers centre if you have one in your location
Citizens Advice Bureau
Welfare Rights at your local County Council

For your tribunal you should have received a great big package with probably 50-80 pages of information my advice is seek immediate advice ASAP

I have just been thought this

I agreed for the tribunal to excess my medical records
take with you all paperwork the tribunal sends you, at the hearing there is a judge and a doctor who will ask you how far you can walk
without stopping
if you stop because of pain.. how far you can go before feeling pain if you have other problems ie breathing etc
hope this help
don't be afraid mine was very nice and understanding

If this is for ESA you won't receive a big envelope of papers that is for DLA or PIP.You will have a RA specialist who diagnosed you with fibro... and Physiotherapist or Ocupational therapist who you can get a letter from ( I enclosed mine with my form) as well as one from my GP..also DIAL is free and they will do everything on your behalf , the appeal form and someone from Dial will go to the tribunal with you.. they are a brilliant organisation.
