The dreaded brown envelope arrived this morning, I was so sure it would be a no, (see previous post) I didn't open it for about 2 hours, when I did open it I got the shock of my life, I was awarded standard rate care and standard mobility until 2019!!!!! I'm so pleased, it will make such a difference to my life.

There is hope so don't give up

Glad you got a yes. I got a no and was set back again as felt like a fraud because one person who has met me for 30 minutes made the decision if I had fibromyalgia or not although they had a letter from my doctor who I see every week and had contact information for my pain nurse and specialist. I was going to appeal but I could bring myself to do it and now it is too late.

Hi Gemma, sorry to hear that. I know how you feel, about 3 years ago, like you I was refused DLA and couldn't bring my self to appeal, I have had to appeal the ESA twice, I was prepared to appeal PIP this time if I didn't get it, as I'm entitled to it. I do have other health issues as well, not sure how much f a difference that made to the outcome.

When you feel a bit stronger apply for it again, give detailed information about every aspect of the effect Fibro has on you, be prepared to appeal, because they know that a lot of people wont appeal, because the stress it cause us, put us off

I wish you well and please put in a claim as soon as you feel up to it.

Gentle hugs

Gemma, my advice is to reapply as soon as possible. Go to your Welfare Rights team and get them to fill in the form for you. They know all the criteria for what's available and how to word things too. Get a printout from your GP listing any meds you take, all the conditions you have with dates of the diagnosis etc. It should also show the visits you've made to them in the last 3 months. Get as much evidence as you can. I took a copy of something that was posted on here called 'One to show the non believer's' (it's under the 'Living with Fibromyalgia' section) and I used it as a start for making a list of all the things I can't do, all the symptoms I get etc etc. It took me weeks to complete it bit by bit. As something occurs to you write it down so you don't forget. Take it with you as a memory aid when you get the form filled in. Above all else ALWAYS APPEAL! I know it is incredibly stressful but the Welfare Rights people will go with you if you want them to for moral support if nothing else.

Hope something I've written can be of some help and good luck for next time.

I'm waiting for the result of my PIP application but I have already decided that I will appeal if I don't get it.
Update - just got letter - lower rate for both so I'm going to lose the car!!! Can't stop crying but I won't let them beat me! Have told them I want a reconsideration so the fight begins!

Gentle Hugs :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :goodluck2:
