ESA support group as i'm husbands carer?

Postby andrew623 » Fri May 20, 2016 9:06 pm

Hi all,

Hope someone can advise. My wife got 0 points following a WCA for ESA and has requested a mandatory reconsideration. If she gets the magic 15 points, would she be eligible to be placed in the ‘support group’ on the grounds that she is my carer and receives carers allowance because I receive PIP enhanced care rate. She was thinking that Regulation (35) would apply (substantial risk) because she is my carer for more than 35 hours a week. Any advice?

Many thanks in advance.

I think I am right in saying that you get ESA on the basis that you are unable to work, either temporary or permanently. If your wife is able to take care of you then they may class her as able to work.

Have a looky at this linky, it explains what is needed to be placed in the Support Group.
