Hi all, I am in a panic, I have got my pip papers through to change from DLA. The trouble is because I havr suffered from depression and social anxiety for almost forty years and I am agoraphobic and hate going outdoors, i do not venture out alone I tend to shy away from hospitals and specialist. I have managed it a few times but it is so stressful and upsetting it really makes me feel poorly and causes my fibro to flare. I have heard so many stories about pip I don't think I could stand all the pressure, i feel like just giving up and not bothering to claim. I really need some advice I am a nervous wreck and so very tearful all the time. Is it worth the upset.

Silly me I forgot my main reason for writing, I have virtually no evidence to give pip. Even physics didn't give me copies of anything they might have forwarded to my doc, and my doc isn't very sympathetic towards fibro sufferers. I don't know what to do for evidence or do I just forget it all. Hate this pip lark, at least DLA let us keep our dignity.

You can ask for all the information, the doctor hold about you [only digital] including any letters from specialist using the freedom of information request. They may charge you up to £10 for this. You can then use this to complete the forms. They are several good sites on Facebook that will guide you through the forms, some are free some are not.
Request a home visit should you need a face to face assessment, and make sure you have someone there as a witness also request that the interview is recorded [you might have to go to there office for that to happen, but if you can manage it it's the best option.

Good Luck

Don't give up
1. Ask for a home visit
2. Ring your Drs and ask for a print out of what drs have on record for last 12 months or ask them to copy you letters sent by specialists etc
3.Do you have any input from any other services etc
4. Is there anybody who does your shopping accompanies you when you go out and can explain what happens etc
5. Complete the form with as much detail as possible do a diary etc
6. Send as much evidence as you can ie drs report , carers , friends , mental health team etc
If your dr is not very compassionate could you see another doctor or telephone consultation
Good Luck

My neighbours have all signed a letter to say I never venture out alone and then only in a car as I have severe anxiety attacks. A couple have wrote letters saying I have been like this for over 37 years. I have had physics who couldn't relieve the pain and decided a crutch was best for support as my knee and ankle give way, but I have no letter verifying it. Also podiatry built insoles to try to help, but still giving way, again no letter. Hydrotherapy and no letter. Would doctor have these or would I have to phone them myself. Thanks everyone for your asdvice, it truly is appreciated. I feel very let down by my doctor who I really believed understood about fibro and had some compassion, apparently I was wrong.

Your GP should have all reports especially if they were the ones who referred you in the first place.

If not you can always call these people up and ask for a report.

Don't forget to point out how distressing having to go out is (for your appointments) and how you are afterwards. Also the build up of having to go out.

I have anxiety and if I'm having to go out the stress is awful and that in itself causes symptoms like upset stomach, tension & panic (sometimes it builds up weeks before) Then when I get home im still unsettled from the ordeal. Can take me a few days to come down from such an event.

Then there is the appointments you have avoided because of the fear and that you have not been able to get the appropriate help and support for your health because the fear and panic overrides it and as a consequence your health has deteriorated.

The support the person gives to get you out of the house to appointments. The encouragement, the reassurances, the ways to help calm you down, how they help when you do panic and so forth.

All this needs to be put down.

Thanks Lisa, you gave me really good advice, it is so hard trying to think and put it down on paper in any kind of sensible order, I am so stressed, my fibrofog is like a black mist that I am wading through as I try to get my brain into gear and failing badly. my head hurts and every nerve in my body is shaking like a leaf. How can they expect you to concentrate and write any kind of coherent sense when your whole body is in pain and turmoil. Keep picking the paperwork up and throwing it down, I will never get it finished cos I don't know where to start. Makes my blood boil, why would anyone chose to go through this purgatory if there was no reason to. I am worried sick that I will not complete and send it back in time. It is mental cruelty. I just can't find the words to convey how this terrible condition can destroy you, mind, body and soul.
