A Positive Realisation...

Postby SchroedingersCat » Wed Sep 25, 2013 2:00 pm

I wasn't sure whether to put this in here or in the Positive and Fun forum, so went with this in case it gets taken the wrong way.

I have just realised I can't remember the last time I saw my GP. I honestly can't. I don't see any specialists, and I haven't been to the dentist in ages, so it is entirely possible that I haven't seen a medical professional apart from my opthalmologist (for post-laser surgery care) in over 6 months. This means I haven't felt ill enough to visit my GP in ages. Given that my health has been pretty rubbish overall since the start of 2010, this was a bit of a surprise realisation. How cool is that? :) Long may it last.

Brilliant!! It shows that you have found a pretty decent balance with things, which is what most of us are looking for :bear-dancing: :bear-dancing: :bear-dancing:

Hopefully it will give others the hope that they too can keep on with finding their balance of things to live with FM :fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed:

Just remembered this post, heh, apart from going for my flu job, I ain't been near a GP since that original post. Now in the interesting situation of having to find a new one due to moving house miles away from where I was!

You must have found peace with the way things are, no better than you were 6 months ago but things are under control.

A couple of months ago my Dr called and said I needed to go in right away. Worried that my cancer had returned I went that afternoon. When I got there he said that I hadn't seen him in a long time, a year or so. I had seen many other Dr's, specialists and had many tests, surgery done.
I said did he miss me, LOL.. He said yes! He said he saw me two or three times a week at one point. He wanted to make sure I wasn't being stubborn and sitting home in misery and depressed. I have made a promise to see him every 2 months.
We do get to a point where we are content. Our meds are working reasonably well and things are ok. These are the good times that we should be happy!
I hope you don't have to see your Dr again for a while.

Hey Whoami, that's a good doctor! As I'm not on any meds, I only go when I'm stuck with something I can't cope with on my own. Haven't seen anyone about my FM since 2012 I think.

Was just thinking about this post. Not seen a GP now in over 18 months. Never got around to signing up with a new one when we moved house last year!
