Pain can appear anywhere across your body shazzie, that's the closest thing I can come up with to "normal" where FM is concerned

I have noticed an increase in upper arm pain recently    Altho the heaviness and pain is always there, it really makes its presence felt after I've moved my arms up and down a couple of times :yikes: :yikes: :yikes:

I do have pains in my arms but what I find most debilitating is the tenderness of the muscles and tendons especially if I try to lift something and it doesn`t have to be heavy reaching for the salt seller can do it and if I carry anything for any length of time keeping my arms in same position again no weight needed my muscles seem to set like a jelly and i have excruciating pain then ion movement Its especially bad in my left arm :-(

LIke FluppyPuffy I find that raising my arms makes things worse - especially hanging out the washing!!! :-? And like Deanna the elbows are a bagger
I'd love to kjnow how you have got the rest of the pain under control though Shazzie as I can never seem to pinpoint where hurts the most. I just hurt all over. Knees and ankles are a swine too.
Wish I could be of more help - but until the medical profession actually start to believe that this is really REAL and HURTS I think we are all a bit stuffed.

You beat me to it as I was going to ask about arm pain, lol. I get pain like trapped nerves running down my arms to my hands and lot of pain in my neck which I have to 'click' to release the pressure as get headaches, but relief doesn't last long. Also pain in between shoulder blades too my bra strap. Also getting really horrible sensations like tingling mixed with pins and needles down both arms. Makes me feel sick. Getting it 24/7. Been using hot water bottle and Voltarol as this used to come on every now and then but now permanent and driving me mad. None of my meds for rest of my problems help with at all. Any tips anyone?

My arms are one of my worst areas. The pain is from my fingers all the way up and then moves into neck pain. My muscles feel very hard. I find the pain is extremely bad when I'm on the phone so I can't talk for long. I use one of those 4head balm stick things on my sore spots, its not just for headaches! I go through quite a few of them but I get them from poundland.

So many of us get severe pain in the arms, much like the rest of the body. Its like a severe nerve pain, with deep sciatica. My arms are always so very heavy, and now with RSI cannot do even the simplest things. Everywhere just is pain and hurt. Having tried many drugs over the years, I still find that plenty of aloe vera gel rubbed in gives coolness and some temporary relief, and now desperately trying to avoid drugs, and they just drug you out of life. I have been in a wheelchair since a drug was given by a so-called specialist, a beta-blocker, 32 years ago, which was the worst thing out for me! You can gather that I do not have much confidence in doctors! The Bio-freeze gel definitely gives some relief, but it is so strong with the menthol, that it affects my very sensitive eyes, which takes days of drops to even improve. I do have many allergies too copy with, as I am sure many of you do, and although I do not have hay-fever, the Pharmacist at Boots told me to try their hay-fever eyes drops, and this has definitely helped, though with dry eyes, still need to use the artificial tears.

If any of you have IBS which is so common, especially with Fibro, do try taking aloe vera juice neat, (not in water) it can help. No, I am not selling Aloe vera, but always prefer something far more natural than drugs. I had blisters on my thumbs, and have found that the pure aloe vera gel has cured that.

often its the simplest of natural things which can bring some relief. Hope something here may help someone. sincerely, penfriend

Pain in neck, shoulders, arms and hands and feeling of a tens machine on full crossed with being nettled was so bad yesterday went to drs. I hate going to drs as they look at me as if to say, "what do you expect me to do?". Explained was finding it difficult to sit, stand, walk, lay down as moving to try to release neck etc pain causing pain in centre of back and lower back and couldn't use my walking stick at all. Was told it was nerve entrapment (previously been led to believe that scans should show this) and explained that scans hadn't shown it in my neck and he said it wouldn't as there are so many nerves around the body scans cannot show it unless there is a slipped disc and then it's obvious, but pins and needle sensations means trapped nerves. So bang goes the theory of the so-called 'specialists' I've seen over the past 6 yrs. Got told to increase Filnarine (slow release morphine) to help me sleep better. Went through drugs I've tried and am on and was told that I'd tried everything they could suggest. He advised Pilates which was hilarious given I had to stop doing it 2 weeks ago after going for 4 weeks and spending the following 2 days bedridden on Oramporph. :nono: :nono: Underactive thyroid was high on the scale so had to increase medication for that. Today feel like I've been hit by a bus. Every single part of me hurts and noise is driving me crazy, everything just seems to be shouting at me, lol. Roll on a 'good' day, lol. :-D  :-D

Getting Right arm injected on monday, they said Im to do nothing all day after, what the heck are they going to stick me with, Id like to know, cos no-one has told me !
Sometimes I think we arent told because they think we dont need to understand, or it doesnt matter if we do or dont, either way, its my body and I do want to know.

The injection was very painful, although the new doc said it would be like a blood test, he lied.

The injection was given towards he back of my shoulder directly into the joint, local anaesthetic and cortisone, and a week later I have to say I dont feel any inmprovement whatsoever, even on the day, the local anaesthetic didnt seem to improve matters in the short term. I was very nervous, and the whole affair seemed stressful to me, and for what?

To be fair the doc said it would eithe rimprove things or it wouldnt, so he didnt fib about that, and I had to try, anything to get rid of this pain, which has been there for months. I have to make another appt with him in three weeks, so maybe I will have something positive to say by then.

I too have had a cortisone injection in my shoulder 2 weeks ago. It doesn't seem to have made any difference. It's starting to worry me now if I'm honest. I get a sharp, grabbing or burning pain in my forearm, a dull ache in my wrist and elbow and the most horrible shoulder pain. I can't lift my arm above my head or put it behind my back without it reducing me to tears. I'm starting to get neck pain too. I have problems getting comfortable at night, which doesn't help with sleeping (or trying to). The rhematologist has put me on pregablin starting on 1 a day and then I have to up it to 2 after taking it for two weeks. She thinks it could be repetetive strain. She also said that if there is no improvement we could look at going to a pain clinic? But, she has discharged me so I presume that would have to be via the Doctor and I don't really know what a pain clinic entails...

Can I ask, the burning sensation that some of you have, is it like a hot feeling that goes off after a while or is it a permanent sensation?

I don't know why I posted this really, but it's helped getting it out of my system if nothing else.

I have this problem now and again the tops of my arms feel like they our all bruised. It comes and goes sometimes it will last for a few days then just go. It can be very uncomfortable I have mentioned this to a Fibromyalgia Specialist who I have seen in the past and it is a symptom of Fibro.

we're all in so much pain I often feel like starting a thread: What doesn't hurt.......... I think earlobe would be my response.

I too have tried the cortisone injections in my neck and across the base of it, alass it didn't work for me but that doesn't mean it wouldn't work for you, try it and see.

Tens machines are also unsuited to my skin and body.

I do get relief from Acupressure Pillow and Mat. know as a bed of nails. Yes it hurts but it's a different type of pain, I'm not sure I can explain it but I like it!! :-D
