Burning sensations

Postby charley » Fri Mar 15, 2013 9:35 pm

Is it normal for your skin to sometimes feel like it's burnt or burning?
The skin around my hip and waist has been feeling like that since yesterday, and I'm not too sure what it is. I haven't had it before, except for when I've had the flu, and a few internet searches have keep leading to fibro. So just wanted to see if anyone else gets this :/

Hope you're all good, and not suffering from the return of the cold too much :)

If there is no rash then I have this in my back and legs quite often. If a rash is present consider shingles, it is commonly seen around the torso x

No, there isn't a rash there, if there was, I think I would be panicking a lot more haha :)

It's not unusual charley, quite a lot of us have something similar. It's often described as feeling like sunburn.

If it's particulary bothering you, you could always have it checked out, just to be sure.

Hi, :-)
I get burning sensations a lot and it is linked to my fibro. I get it worse when i am having a fibro flare. Sometimes i get it on my thighs, hips but i also get it worse on my shoulders it is so annoying and painful as its impossible for me to control unless i rub creams n gels all over area.

Well, it's definitely good to know that it's not unusual :) Do any of you have any recommendations of something to calm it down?

Loopy2302, I know that feeling! It's so annoying when Drs put everything down to fibro without even trying to check, once took me 20 mins to attempt to convince a Dr that the elbow problems I was having was as a result of dislocating it a few years ago and NOT fibro!

mabo2stay what kind of gels/creams do you usually use?

FluppyPuffy, it's not bothering me as such, it's more irritating than anything else, as it feels a lot worse when something touches it...including clothes :/ and my teddy is most definitely on stand by!!! :P

stormguy what's duloxetine and what is it used for? if you don't mind me asking :)

Crazyfi, it is kinda like that I guess...it's a bit difficult to describe :S

Hi everyone. It is quite normal to feel burning sensations with fibromyalgia,it is nerve pain I suffer with severe burning pains all over my body almost everyday. I was put on carbormazapine to ease the burning pain. Most days it feels like severe sun burn but my neurologist said its quite common with fibromyalgia. Hope this information is useful. Thanks :-D :-D :-D
