Strange Odd Feelings!!

Postby Tel1 » Fri May 10, 2013 12:41 pm

Hi All

You may have seen my other description of when I woke up in the middle of the night with the most dreadful pain.....nightmare, nightmare!! but what I didn't include was this... I have noticed for a couple of years that ( It feels) like the left side of me is
not working properly... ( it is, but it feels like it's not ) The only way I can describe it is...my left arm / leg/hand feel weak and
as those they aren't there...it ( feels) like I have had a stroke, and as though the blood isn't getting to the parts needed.
Like all of us who have Fibromyalgia , I expect you have all had blood tests to death to rule out other things like I did...but I still
get this feeling everyday, and also the left hand kind of goes puffy, especially after I have eaten a meal.... it's the most ODD feeling.
I also get a terrible feeling ( at times) like as though I am going ( Mad) :yikes: :yikes: But seriously, it feels like as though I am
drunk and I am not here!!! ( I never drink by the way :-P ) I never use to get this, but I can't see how and why all of a sudden I am getting these sensations and feelings even more since I have been diagnosed with Fibro, I am sure Fibro just doesn't arrive... I think, or at least I would assume one would have it for a long time before doctors/GPs/Specialists diagnose you like they did me
This Fibromyalgia is really getting to me because, I have asked several GPs and Doctors... Is it that the Fibromyalgia makes us like
this, with pains tiredness feeling strange and ill all the time, or is it US that had made ourselves like this and we have depressed
and ruined our brains and nervous system? none of them could answer me.... Anyway if anyone else has had what I have mentioned
above, I would be interested to hear from anyone:))))

A lot of strange sensations can sometimes be attributed to the meds we take and the symptoms can develop slowly so the best thing you can do is to visit your doc and see what they think :fingerscrossed: its something simple which maybe a tweak here and there with the meds will sort

Denys.........I agree with you about the meds. They can do the strangest things to you. Anything from feeling sick to a complete change of personality.

Tel1..........You should see your GP about anything that isn't the new normal for you. As Denys says, it could be a change in meds needed.

I don't know if this will help and I only have read this post not your other one. It's been a while since it happen to me but I use to get that feeling of paralysis/stroke on a weekly basis, and it was whenever I had a really bad migraine, the left side of my face would drop and I would have complete numbness in the left side of my body from head to toe. I'm not going to lie I don't have the first clue about fibro I am just learning myself as was diagnosed just a month ago and all I know is the symptoms and pains I've had through the years. But what I've learned from that when I was having regular migraines and researching fibro now, is could it be to do with such an excruciating pain which can make you feel like dying (in my case with migraines) is your body trying to relax part of your body to calm you, because even though its so scary that feeling for the first time, after I knew it was temporary I almost wish for the numbness and slurred speech because it would take away that feeling of a thousand elephants trampling on my head and it would calm me and take the panic away from feeling like my head would explode any second?

I don't know, it's just an experience I have had many times, and maybe that theory is far too way out there, but I have seen it as a coping mechanism not by choice but almost like your body is actually trying to do something good for you for once

I had a really strange episode in February, I was sat in bed about 6.30 am, so fully awake. My left arm lost all sensation (as though I had been laying on it) and I was so confused I didn't know where I was for at least a couple of minutes. I didn't call GP, I know I should have! Luckily it hasn't happened since but if it does i'll be at that A & E like a shot. I think we all fall into the trap of thinking 'it's only the fibro'..
Take care all... x
