have got my diagnosis

Postby julesbray » Wed Aug 07, 2013 3:54 pm

Hi all,
was at the hospital for four hours today, seeing the rhuematologist and having lots more blood taken. The Dr says I have fibromyalgia, but she also thinks there may be something else too, hence the blood tests. I have to have an MRI, and she has given my Prednisone ( steroids) to take for 6 weeks. I will give the trial treatment a go, even though I don't like taking tablets. I want to get better so much, I will do anything just to have my life back. So this the start of a new chapter in my life. Taking charge of this illness, I am in control now and am ready to fight back! :-D

Hi
Sorry to hear its Fibro, did she say what else they thought you might have and what they were testing you bloods for? As steroids is not a treatment for Fibro.
Hope you hear back from them soon. :goodluck1:

I would guess possible joint problems detected under examination hence the MRI and steroid treatment which could help slow down joint damage in the early stages of arthritic conditions? Normally they would do bloods at the GP during a referral but different areas do things differently. My only slight concern would be a premature diagnosis in the absence of bloods & now MRI however its not something to worry about at this stage as they are at least doing the tests etc. the specialist may be far more experienced that I lol

At this stage my only advice would be to go with the flow and get all the tests done etc! In the absence of these results there are far to many possibilities that are not even worth worrying about yet :-)

I can't take anti inflammatories, so thats why she suggested steroids. She gave me a leaflet about fibromyalgia and said when I read it, it may be like reading about myself. She sure was right!! I also had bloods done at the doctors before referral. The bloods that were done at the hosp were specific ones.
