sore tongue

Postby Wackers34 » Fri Sep 06, 2013 10:57 am

Hi all

I know this has been discussed before, but I can't remember what was said about it.

on and off I have been getting a really sore tongue...like today really sore with a small red patch on tip. Plus roof of my mouth feels a bit sore too.

Is this another strange symptom of fibro? Does anyone else get this sore tongue, that just comes and goes?

I have been checked for autoimmune diseases, i take loads of vitamins and all my blood works are fine.

I often get mouth ulcers also

Im on Amitriptyline and propaponol...i don't see doc until next week

Hi, I often get this - especially when i have a virus! have been getting mouth ulcers since a teen and always right before a virus hits me! i also get them when i am in a flare - although it is usually a virus that causes the flare! do you bloods often show a raised white blood cell count as this is a sign you have or are fighting a virus! hope it eases soon for you! xxx

I am both relieved and disheartened to have spotted this post on my fb feed.
the tip of my tongue has been sore for about a week now and also feels like it has a spot on it.
as i'm a smoker (i know, i know  ) i was starting to think it was due to that. :yikes:
but really... ANOTHER mad fibro symptom??!!!
i have a docs appt next week to discuss recent blood tests so will be interesting to hear what they said.

God yeah. I get it frequently. Often down the one side of my tongue which then often effects my ear and glands. My tongue is pretty sore at the moment, but I'm at the start of a flare so it'll get worse yet. Drives me mad as anything the slightest bit tangy, including my favourite Twister ice lollies hurt my tongue

A few things can cause this........meds can cause a dry mouth, if you sleep with your mouth open, sleep apnes

I have sleep apnea and my mouth would be so dry (because I breath through my mouth) my tongue would bleed or sometimes my tongue would stick to the roof of my mouth.

You can buy various sweets, sprays or mouth washes to help relieve symptoms. If this causes irritation that you can't remedy you maybe should see your Dr.

Please get it checked out as i had and still have a very sore mouth with ulcers coming and going and i was referred to the hospital for biopsies when i could bear it no more. They were hosest with me and said it looked suspicious and the skin was very tough another sign of cancer. Anyway to cut a short story short i had biopsies and have been diagnosed with Lupus but the sores in my mouth is Lichen Planus and the first line of treatment for this is steroids so please please get it checked out as it wont get better on its own it just gets moreand more unbearable with the pain and i am totally restricted on what i can bear to eat without it causing excruciating pain. Mine is severe and it is taking a lot of clearing.

Good luck with it

Oh how I hate these sore areas or ulcers and I can't seem to figure out why I keep getting them. My test results were fine so I ended up asking a chemist and they gave me anbesol. Numbed most of the pain and it kills bacteria as well.

Hope this helps. :-)

Hi there, I get this too, mouths nipping & burning a lot & even brushing my teeth really stings at times, its horrible! :(

Also my tongue gets sore a lot when I am eating, its like muscle pain, I cant chew for long as it hurts at the sides of it near the back!! :yikes: ... Unfortunately doesnt stop me eating too much though!!

Will check replies with interest on this topic to see if any solutions/reasons come up!
