MIne started in the neck and jaw so i got a chiropractor to malnipulate the stiffness in my neck and from then onwards it spread elsewhere  it was like the tension had been released in the neck so it then sat elswhere.

It was interesting reading the replies, thank you.

It seems yet again that there is no certain path that this illness goes through but hands are defineately in there.

I believe mine began in my right shoulder, before spreading to the rest of my body.

Hi, my pain started in my left foot with a large egg shaped swelling on the sole of my foot. My GP said it was plantar faciitis & gave me a steroid injection & home I went, it got worse so another steroid injection in the heel of my foot!! :( The swelling got worse & then spread to my other foot, knees & hips - the GP wasn't sure what was happening but the pain was terrible & was getting worse each day. Finally I got referred to a Rheumatology Specialist who also gave me a steroid injection as he couldn't even examine me! when I went back last week he told me it was osteoarthritis & fibromyalgia. My GP has now confirmed this diagnosis & started me on Lyrica & we're going from here. Some days the pain is excrutiating & the feeling of tiredness & depression is overwhelming. My fiancé is brilliant & even though he doesn't fully understand what I'm going through he supports me every step of the way, :-D . I'm scared of what the future holds for me now & I've found that I can't do the simple things anymore as my hands are getting worse :-)

Mine started in my right shoulder. I had a steroid injection which didn't help then had physio and acupuncture which didn't work and really hurt. I had been seeing the physio for a few weeks when I was diagnosed by a rheumatologist with fibromyalgia, I had already been diagnosed with chronic fatigue.

Mine started in my lower back then R leg shoulders and neck now on a bad day even my hair and teeth hurt :(. I've just been to the dr and mentioned to him that during the flair I'm having my hands feel swollen and blistered. He's said it's an unfortunate side affect to the combination of meds I'm on

My was hands, for sure...

Now the pain is almost constant in hands/wrists, feet/ankles. I get pain other places, of course, but the other tends to come and go more, where the hands is pretty consistent. Makes both typing and walking quite difficult. I use a cane to walk during a bad flare, but because my hands hurt too, it can be painful to put pressure on the handle of the cane!

My pain started in the lower back, but for a lot of that time my hands would randomly swell, or lose sensation in the tips. I have always had very cold hands and feet as well, but it has gotten much worse which I (and my OH who has to deal with my cold feet  ) didn't think was possible!

Mine started in my legs about 6-7 years ago in 2007/08 before any of this really begun. It started with numbness and cramping type pain and over the years it just started to spread to my back, my hands, feet, jaw etc. Its now impossible to go to bed without a hot water bottle even when its in the middle of a heatwave. It was only when I started having blackouts and seizures in 2010/11 that we started to look deeper into all of this.
