Strange question

Postby joanne1805 » Fri Feb 21, 2014 12:09 am

Hello everyone,
This is a strange one and not sure if its related at all to Fibro, but does anyone else experience the skin on the inside of their mouths peeling off (disgusting I know)?? Just wanted to ask before I mention it to my Dr.
Thanks.

Even if others have this symptom, mention it to your Dr. I can be a few things. Yes, it happens to me. As it comes off it seems like a piece of skin dangling , just hanging. I have actually pulled it off myself.

Hi Joanne,

That's sounds horrid, I've never had it! Personally, I would first check all the side-effects of all the medications you're on. THEN go and see the doctor. I would go with this order, as it might be something brought on by medication, and either way that gives you a place to start with at the doctors (we know they aren't always overly reciepient).

Good luck!

Any chance it could be medication related?

Hiya, yes it is horrid. I get it too. For me it seems to be related to recurring sialadenitis (an infection of one or more of the saliva ducts/glands). I constantly have a dry mouth, although the ENT Consultant assured me mine wasn't nearly as bad as some I've seen. When it flares up with swellings and pain (quite excruciating and at first confused with a tooth abscess) I need a long term low dose antibiotic - taken over 6 months. So, yes, check it out with your GP.

I get this but mainly on my cheeks or near the back of my mouth. It's from grinding my teeth my dentist said. I also chew on my cheeks or lips inside without noticing.

I'd get it checked, as pp said. It might be nothing but if it needs treatment at least you'dknow and could then try to get rid of it. :goodluck2:

Hi it sounds like a reaction to medication, you should talk to your doctor about it . Good Luck x
