Hi all :-)

Just posting this question is any having bother with very sore heals after a short walk, :( also my legs feel like there on fire :( The mane reason i'm post is that on a night my hand become very tight and my fingers go very stiff,
I've had a rheumatologyist did a scan on my hand and they found nothing but every day my first finger, and my middle finger are very stiff and rigid. The pain i suffer is very intense it makes me want to

Also my walking about is becoming laboured and sore my knee swell that much and hurt leaves me very close tears when i go out. I was wondering if there is anybody that knows how to go go about getting a wheelchair because if we go out as a family they end up leaving me fare behind.

If any knows how to go about will the please post, i have had social care direct come in they have given me a bed pull up to help me in bed and they have also orded me a bath seat and bath steps.

It is difficult for doctors to define what is caused by fibro and what has others causes. I have osteoarthritis in my hands, neck and knees, I've had 2 operations on my right knee, however I'm waiting for a hospital appt for my left knee which is constantly swollen. After walking any distance it becomes even more swollen.
I feel as if I have flu all the time and hurt all over  I put my hands in as hot water as I can take with Epsom salts in it, then gently move my fingers about until they ease.
Painkillers don't make any difference, some days I don't go out because the pain is too great. My GP says that I will learn to live with this, but my physical pain is made worse by the loss of my husband and the depression and grief that go along with that.
However it is not all doom and gloom, there are days when I feel really well and am able to go out and do things I like. Now that spring is here, the flowers are blooming, and the world is becoming pretty again. Sorry to rabbit on, take care and look after yourself :goodluck2:

Kazza.....I can feel your pain as I get severe pain in my hands and knees. Get in to see your Dr again. In the meantime, get some
100% Arnica gel, It really helps. It is one of those things that really stinks but really works, LOL.

I hope you get answers soon.

Hi, I have severe pain in my Big toes, Also my heels and guiders are really painful, my legs, knees, hips are painfull too. I have very sore skin to my fore arms and my shoulders, elbows, hands, fingers and wrists are very painfull. It can move from one area to another and pain is really strong. I use a wheel chair when i go out to help me get about. without it I would not be able to see much. O/T assessed me and gave me a voucher for £350.00 for a wheel chair. X

Hello,

I feel your pain and frustration and hope you find something that works.

I get sudden severe pain in my hands, sometimes up my arms, and the doc told me it was vascular spasms. That makes sense and I can tell what that sort of pain is now. It doesn't make my hands go rigid but it does feel as if it is. Soaking my hands in water as hot as I can bear it helps, and the other post suggesting epsom salts is a good idea as you can absorb magnesium through your skin that way. Magnesium helps nerve function and us fibros are often short of it. I take a supplement. I don't have too much problem with my knees usually unless I get a Baker's cyst - a swelling on the back of the knee caused by fluid bulging out of the joint. Swelling normally means too much fluid and sometimes our fluid balance is unregulated, just like every body function, and it's worse for me in the mornings in hands and feet. A hot shower helps me and moving around helps to move the fluid away. Another fibro once talked about screaming feet - an excellent description I think, certainly works for me. Sensitive skin is normal and mine is fragile and splits and blisters easily too. Also have fragile veins and they burst inside my knuckles on hands and feet, it stings and burns and looks like a massive bruise, usually takes a day or two to go away. Arnica is good :-D

It's really hard to tell what is fibro and what is possibly something a doc needs to know about. Err on the side of caution and never be afraid to ask.

Good luck and gentle hugs
Jules x

Hi there, glad to hear that someone else knows what I am feeling. My hands hurts so much I cannot open cartons of milk, mash potatoes or even sometimes brush my own hair. HI have tried the splints they gave me but they are a waste of time. The only thing that gives any ease is warm woolly gloves and then it is only slight relief. I also get knee pains and find it hard to walk downstairs due to pain and my knees have a tendency to give way. Does anyone feel like someone has set their legs or other parts of their body on fire. I get this feeling of being set alight and when I look there is nothing there. Also I often am so exhausted that no matter where I am I just want to get on the floor and sleep , does anyone else feel this need or am I an oddball. x

It could be Plantar Faciitis causing your heel pain with referred pain into your legs...

I do not know where you live, but know that Councils differ. I have had much help from the local DSS in the past, with getting a wheelchair, but I also have two of my own now. The DSS also supplied a powered wheelchair for indoors which has been a great help. They also installed a bath seat, but I use it for a shower, and high toilet seat. They also supplied a bed lever, but we bought a single bed which I can raise or fall, according to my needs. They are very expensive new but we managed to find one which was as new, and so thankful for it.

I hope that you can still get wheelchairs on loan from your local DSS through the Council.

sincerely, penfriend

My hands are really giving me trouble these days but I've got compression gloves that are for arthritis and when I wear them there's a difference and hurts a little less. They're slightly more flexible too. Maybe they could help you.

The gloves can be bought online, no need to ask doctor. They can be around £20 ... I'm not sure if anything like this is available on prescription?

There are many different brands available but I bought grey ones from imak because they look more like normal gloves, are easy to wash ( don't look dirty too quick with that colour lol), quite soft and work for me.
Maybe you could ask in mobility shops if they have any compression gloves so you could check before buying?

Hope this helps.
