Legs do the jig

Postby painprincess1 » Sun Aug 17, 2014 10:28 am

So at night my legs omg I put the restless in restless legs. They feel like someone put me on the rack and tried to pull them off,
They do my head in.
I just can't stay in bed I have to get up.
I think if u can sleep at night pain is something u can cope with .but crappy nights sleep over and over really knocks your pain levels xx

Amitrypyline is often prescribed a few hours before bed for this, if amitrypyline cannot be tolerated nortripyline is sometimes offered (made mine worse but I'm just weird)

I'm on 75mg Amitriptyline. But it doesn't stop the restless legs when it's bad. Taking it has improved my sleep ten fold, so I do feel a lot of benefit taking it. Not sleeping at all was so hard. Need to talk with my GP about other options for meds re my legs though. So thank you everyone for sharing their experience and what works for them. :-)

I,m on Amitriptyline but they don,t help my restless legs and arms, my GP prescribed Pramipexole which does help, might be worth asking your GP about them.

I've had restless legs for years, even before FMS was diagnosed. I have always been prescribed Pramipexole. It doesn't seem to be a very well known medication as people on here rarely mention it.
I also take Amitriptyline now too to help with sleep but if I get restless legs in the night it doesn't help with that at all.
Pramipexole really does help so maybe you could mention it to you GP's

My amitriptyline has gone up now to 125mg which is knocking me out problem is I have been put on 25mg,50mg,75mg,100mg each going up after about 4-6 weeks when sleep is not good even though it is full nights sleep it is not refreshing and if it happens again I can go as far as 150mg but no further I don't know what I would do.

I have noticed it is my legs that can jerk and my hand and arms. I can't control it at all happens during day as well

I have had restless legs for about 10 years and my doc prescribed gabapentin starting low but I now take 300mg morning 600mg teatime and 300mg bedtime. this makes a big difference and at the times it doesn't help I can use another 2 x 300mg. I hope you get some help soon as it really does drive you round the bend!!
