I keep dropping things. Is this a usual part of fibromyalgia?

Hi there!

I'm not sure if it's part of it, but I keep dropping things too. It's like I have a good grip on things but then my muscles forget what I'm doing and I let things go! :-/

And I thought it was just me! I've always been clumsy but right on cue every morning I drop my toothbrush  I'm very careful with plates etc!

These are interesting posts as i have the same problem except my Dr. has told me that i have Muscular dystrophy in my left arm :( so much for being muscian anymore.. anyway i am not sure if this is tied into FMS or not as my Dr. was quite cruel to me with this diagnosis and i literally left his office in tears and feeling very suicidal. Yes i got pass this stage and i am still here and still fighting! I find i am also dropping things all the time and have to be very careful when holding things that are breakable and people can quite cruel when i do drop something and call me names, not realising it's part of my condition just like walking into things or tripping. What a fun illness this is.
Kind thoughts and gentle hugs to all!

Thank you for all your replies. I'm really glad it's not just me. To iblinkin, I'm so sorry they think you might have muscular dystrophy. I do hope it's not and (though it's funny to say it) that it's just fibromyalgia.

Hi,
I drop things all the time, especially when people go to hand me something, it's like my brain lags and before I know it something is crashing to the floor! It's especially embarrassing when I do this at work, though I'm at a loss as to what to say when this happens. Embarrassing and frustrating in equal measure!

Yes, I too suffer from this it may be:-
poor hand eye coordination,
stiff and slow fingers
Sudden weakness
or hand numbness

it varies, but is part of the Fibro. I have to look deliberately at what im picking up to see if i really do have it.

Hiya,
Yes I get this and along with the fog it's one of the more frustrating bits. Its just like I let go but I don't! Its got so bad now that we don't buy matching plates anymore so when I break one it's not so noticeable and we can just buy another one as we go along. Ridiculous!

Take care xxx
