General anaesthetic

Postby Gilly52 » Fri Apr 17, 2015 11:29 pm

Has anyone had any bad experiences with having a general anaesthetic, alongside suffering with fibromyalgia. ??

I have been suffering with fibro for 14years, but I am about to experience my first ever general anaesthetic.....and willing to.admit it is making me feel anxious as my appointment gets ever nearer !!!

Hope everyone has a decent weekend

Hi Gilly52 I have had a few Gen Anaesthetics and have been absolutely fine. Its only natural to be anxious before any operation but im sure you will be fine x

I have had anaesthetic and was absolutely fine. Talk to you anaesthetist about your fears and they will explain it all to you and hopefully put your mind at ease. Good luck and take care

Hi Gilly52,

I underwent mt hysterectomy with fibromyalgia, and it was the whole, lets cut her from hip to hip type, as the surgeon was concerned about the mess I was in and wanted a good look. I was fine in recovery, and did not have any bad affects from the anesthetic, but I never have in any of my pre Fibro surgeries either.

If you didn't have problems before, I think you should be just fine now. I truly hope all goes well with you, and keep us up-to-date.

I had the removal of my osophegus with anaesthetic years ago. I was age 65 and it was a 10 hour op. I didn't have any effect other than what I would have had if I didn't have fibro. Hope that helps x :-)

Hi
I was meant to have some metalwork taken out of my leg last Wednesday (15/03) and due to something else couldn't have it. I was supposed to have a general and if I'd been down for an epidural my surgery would have probably gone ahead, now I've got to wait until more tests have been concluded.
I've had several surgeries, all general anaesthetic and no problems whatsoever. Hope this and other experiences help, take care :)
