Learning new hobbies to take my mind off the pain

Postby Claire'scomfycorner » Sun May 03, 2015 7:44 pm

I've been busy learning new hobbies and making handmade gifts for friends when I've had good pain days or even hours. Even on bad pain days it's taking my mind off the pain as I've been planning what I'm going to do.

My latest blog entry:

What hobbies help you?

Keep smiling :)

I started sewing again about a year ago, and have found it rather therapeutic. I can pick it up and put it down as and when, depending on how I feel. I've found I have a love of vintage style clothes, so most of the patterns I've acquired, as well as fabrics are either true vintage, reprints, or vintage~inspired.

My aim is to make as many of my own clothes as I possibly can xx

That's a fantastic hobby to have! I wish I'd learnt to sew when I was younger. There are some great fabrics out there and I bet the vintage clothes look fab :)

I am writing a novel. Something I started to do when I finished work and had just been diagnosed, and something I used to enjoy.

It's now getting more serious than a hobby and I am pretty far into it. Not only is it distracting, but I can do it at my own pace and have no deadlines, and it's something I enjoy.

I have found doing art therapy colouring books takes my mind off things a bit.
