Fibromyalgia & Polycystic overies HELPP!!

Postby KymmieRAE92 » Tue Sep 08, 2015 3:45 pm

Hi all,

Im 22 and after what felt like a lifetime, i was diagnosed with FM 2 years ago. :-? :-?

It is currently somewhat under control at present (until the weather starts changing) :-?

I have also recently been diagnosed with poly cystic overies and potentially endometriosis.

HOWEVER...

I have been so see a specialist today who has refused to touch me due to my FM.
All he can offer is a long list of hormones or surgery; both of which i have been informed are not an option due to my FM.

I have consequently been palmed off to rheumo doctors for them to scratch their heads about (AKA throw the painkillers out).

I am getting really frustrated now as I am dying to get some form of answer and treatment for the PCOS whilst keeping my FM stable.

I can either get hormones and not be able to get out of bed in the morning or not take hormones and be in even more pain and risk fertility.

HELP! :( :( :(

I was diagnosed with policy cystic overies and endometriosis years ago and just been diagnosed with fibromyalgia this year.

So I am the other away around I haven't found a balance for my fibromyalgia but did have endoscopic surgery which cleared the endometriosis I was then told that the coil with hornmones either and I du or marina coil would help and it did. Not had a period in 15 years now apart from the change over period as they last five years each coil but it was the best thing for me it might be worth a go as it stops the bleeding so the endometriosis doesn't come back and the hormones take care of the polycystic problems. It might be worth a go.

It takes a few months to settle at first but then you have five years relief.

So sorry for your problems. I have endometriosis and Fibro, I have had ovarian cysts but not PCOS. I was fine with Zoladex injections and later Prostap, I now just take the pill in a 6 months cycle. Mirena is a good option for endometriosis but may take a while to work. If you have acne and excess hair growth combined pill Dianette may help although some GPs may be wary of prescribing for more than 6 months. I am a GP although not working at the moment due to Fibro pain and fatigue.
Fibro is now known to be a Neurological condition NOT a Rheumatological condition. Make sure though that Vitamin B and D levels, iron and magnesium are normal.
The magazine is great for advice and has links to good info and research. MyFibro teams is a good social networking site.
Pain killers for nerve pain include e.g. amitriptyline, gabapentin, Pregabalin if Gabapentin fails as it did for me....
Hope that helps.
