A childhood of physical and emotional abuse seems to have kicked of my ailments by the time I was a teenager.

I think its hereditary, but could be that I had CFS first - mostly sore throats, not FM and FM possibly was caused by the mild sexual abuse at 14 which was when I started with unexplained pain. Who knows?

i think it has always been lurking in the background, but suspect complications after birth of last (5th!) child kicked it into gear, and a 7 year string of stressful situations has exaserbated it!!

I believe it was due to hypermobility syndrome, have always had problems and pain with joints but at 48ish the HMS started causing much more problem,s by 50 I was losing work on and off asked for referral to rheumatology at 51, but due to circumstances beyond my control( I was then nursing my daughter for 6 months till her brain tumour finally killed her) had to cancel appointments but once i was ready i asked my gp who got me back to the top of the list when he explained why i had to cancel precvious appointments, last year I got the double diagnosis.

A combination of a life time of stress, abusive relationships, looking after everyone but myself, inability to relax, and the Epstien Barr Virus.

I caught Asian Flu in the early 60's and was never fit and healthy after that. Hysterectomy at 46, worked myself into the ground working full-time at a very demanding job and trying to look after my ailing mother. Diagnosed in early 90's. I think it was a combination of all of these milestones in my life.

I think like everyone else it's been there since I was little. Had a very bad stammer for years and was stressed out.
Also lots of falls and ailments just got worse as I got older.

I have had Fibro for 8 long and horrendous (life changing) years, aftr my one and only flu vaccine at work. I worked as a Midwife, and a Lactation Consultant. Loved my work, and miss it terribly. I am trying to make the most of every day.
