I believe it was after a severe throat infection, cesarean, 11lb baby, severe emotional stress.

I had an accident at work in 2008 and I've damaged my spinal cord. I've had two back operations and numerous corticosteroids injections into my spine left shoulder and both knees. I think that the damage to my spinal cord is the reason I've got fibromyliga. I've never suffered like this before my accident. :-)

I had an accident at work over 25 years ago, head injury, fractured neck. I never recovered fully and within the year diagnosed with fibro. Every Dr said the accident triggered it.

A 50mph collision in a car, I've never been the same since.

Severely dislocated shoulder and broken collarbone damaging nerves in neck at the same time as living in a house with an alcoholic father and my mother going through a nervous breakdown. Needing to be the strong one for the family as a teenager. Not a great combination....

I think fibro comes from doing too much. Everyone I know who has it used to be a 'superwoman' (and the occasional superman). I really think it is like a body-wide depression. I worked my arse off for years in my career, was a real over-achiever, then it got to my mid-30s and I'm thinking 'shouldn't it be getting easier sometime soon? shouldn't I be earning more money right about now?' but instead I got made redundant and there are layoffs and wages being cut all over my sector. It just got HARDER. Lots harder. I don't think you can work so hard at something continuously with so much stress and not moving forward at all - eventually something's got to give.

I went on a diet, loosing 3st, and honestly believe a year on 'diet' drinks and food with aspartame is to blame. Went from perfectly healthy but a little chubby to slim and barely able to move.

I was never sure but knew I'd been gradually feeling worse since a child but the first pain consultant I saw did a thorough job and when I told him about my IBS since I was 4, migraines since age 7 and insomnia at 9 he said there are your triggers. I'm 45 now.

Either drug abuse in early teens or a car accident
