Periodic limb movement disorder and fibromyalgia

Postby FMNewbie » Mon Nov 02, 2015 11:27 pm

Hi all

Just been to the sleep clinic, turns out I've got PLMD

The doc says he believes it's what caused my Fibro and many sleep experts feel the same

Anyone else got it or RLS?

I have had this trouble for the last three or four years, normally when my fybro is at its worse . And it normally happens when I'm in bed my arm will just suddenly fling up or my leg will kick out and I have no warning that it's about to happen and can not control it but I have just thought it was part of the fybro and I am not on any medication for it . And the most annoying is when my leg won't stop shaking it can be really annoying. I have just excepted it now I guess but it can be frustrating but I don't think it's anything to worry about.

Everyday I twitch about but when my fibro is flaring I've noticed I'm worse. It affects my arms, legs, torso but Drs just told me it was restless legs

Most definitely Pramipexole(Mirapexin) helps. So too does avoiding excessive activity and getting adequate rest as if I overdo it or sleep poorly, the twitching is worse. I too was diagnosed after sleep studies.

Omg!....i was hooked up to lots of wires and equipment overnight. It was uncomfortable but at least it resulted in a diagnosis and treatment. Unfortunately the consultant missed the blood result that showed id haemachromatisis. That resulted in debilitating pain and fatigue for another 5 months before another consultant picked up on it and i began treatment. Problem now is he feels ALL my symptoms are due to haemachromatosis but i feel its fms. Time will tell
