Back after a long time...

Postby ouch potato » Sun Nov 15, 2015 6:04 pm

Hello everyone. I haven't been on this forum for a long time now, mainly because, after a dx of fibro, this was refuted by another GP. I was first dx with fibro by a locum dr, but then my regular dr said no and that was that. Since then I have done the rounds of Gp to Rheumy back to Gp, and X Rays and MRIs have shown widespread osteoarthritis.
However...I am still convinced that I also have fibro. The pains I suffer from, and the fatigue which floors me at times, is not consistent with 'just' Osteoarthritis (and that is bad enough on it's own, I'm not trivialising it in any way). Today for example I feel as if someone has an effigy of me somewhere and has spent a happy few hours sticking red hot needles in random places all over. There is no pattern to it - in quick succession it will be knee, shoulder, shoulder blade, finger, bicep, thigh...I said to my partner that it's like a game of whack-a-mole...the pain is just popping up all over the place. The fatigue is even harder to deal with that the pain, however. It completely floors me, but when I go to bed I either can't fall asleep in the first place or I wake up in the middle of the night and that's that...no more sleep.
I have had several health issues lately which have come to nothing...my GP sent me to the cardiac unit because I was having pains in my chest and breathlessness...I had to do a stress test but had to have it stopped because of the pain in my thighs, 5 minutes on the treadmill and my legs turned to lead and I went grey apparently. My heart is fine. I keep waking with severe pain in my ribs. I had the nerves in my lumbar spine burnt 3 weeks ago in a bid to ease the back pain...it is now worse. I'm always cold, however I have night sweats.
I am on amitriptyline at night, citalopram in the morning and cocodamol 30/500 as and when needed (every 4 hours at the moment). I wasn't *too* bad during the summer but I have relapsed so badly now that I think I am going to have to dig the crutches out again as my legs just turn to jelly when I walk.
So...I know you are not doctors and I'm not looking for a dx, rather I'm just reaching out to someone who will listen and hear me.

Thanks for reading

x

Ouch potato you have my sympathies, Fibro is not helping me at all , but worse has occured and the hospital found a abcess on my liver, they want me to have this drained which i am not sure about.

The worse thing for me like you is the sweats i get them mainly while i am in bed trying to sleep is awful and when the sweats wake me the fibro pain starts getting worse even though i take plenty pills at night and during day, i start with 12 at breakfast then 8 at dinner 12 at tea then 3 at bed. The sweats are awful though so i know what you feel.

I do know i am going to have to have this thing drained as it is in the centre of my liver looking at the scan i had done i spent 6 weeks in hospital august to september and all the did was give me IV antibiotics which did not work,

I hope you can get the help and relief you need from this awful pain fibro gives us, i wish you well

Garyl, I'm so sorry you have this with your liver alongside the fibro. That must be a scary thing to hear. It's 'funny' though...I have elevated levels in my liver function test which has never been looked into, until recently when my GP suggested I have gallstones. Fibro certainly likes company doesn't it? I hope all goes well for you.

ouch Potato ask your GP to get a CT scan done to check out the Gall stones as according to hospital that is what caused my Abcess, I only suggest this as i have a Gall stone that has resulted me needing my gall bladder to be removed once the Abcess is sorted out , the specialist did suggest that is what has caused my abcess having this gall stone, Hope you can get the help you need and sort out everything.

Also what i have suggested is just that a suggestion, i know as i type i feel so :-? i must admit i am scared as they want to drain the abcess in my liver which is causing me worry and distress, was made worse by spending 6 weeks in hospital having IV antibiotics which were supposed to shrink the abcess but was not the result got sent home 4 weeks later had a CT scan and then a appointment to see doctor at hospital to be told what i was. I do not want anyone else to suffer how i am so stress to anyone that has gallstones ask for a CTscan on the gall bladder and other organs, the scariest thing was the doctor i am under for gall bladder thought abcess had shrunk but now got bigger until i said no was on discharge letter was still same size, am now concerned it may have grown but not been told until last week
