What symptoms do you have?

Postby Consciousy » Mon Nov 30, 2015 3:32 pm

I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia after having seen at least 3 rheumatologists. However, I'm not convinced I suffer from this
is condition. I have constant headaches and I'm constantly in various stages of pain from my eyeballs to my toes and managing to work full time. I'm thinking of leaving my job within the next week because I can't cope anymore. I work in Fundraising/Marketing which is a stressful and fast paced job. So far apart from frequent absences due to ill health I've had no issues with my work. However, I'm finding it very difficult to concentrate and feeling constantly nauseous and in pain. It's 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and I find that the cold weather make it worse. I've been in pain for the past few years and went to see a chiropractor because I wasn't having much luck with my doctor. The chiropractor did an xray and told me that my knee cartilage was torn which to me explained the pain, throbbing and swelling I was feeling in my knees and legs (especially my right side). I went back to my doctor with this info and was sent to various specialists and had tests done. Apart from something in my blood which was picked up, the mris, ct bone scan haven't detected anything. I'm feeling very frustrated and exhausted with it all. I was off sick last year for 3 months and had to go back to work because I exceeded my sick leave. If I go on sick leave again I wouldn't want to go back to my job because my employer is not supportive. I've had meetings with HR about my condition and find it very intrusive. After my initial sick leave I got a fit note from the doctor to work from home one day a week. That went on for a few months but my Manager has now stopped me from doing that I now go in 5 days a week and use annual leave for hospital appointments and respite when I need it.

Hi...I sympathise with you whole heatable as I too have the pain your discrimination. I however am on morphine patches 37mg and I find these such a help. I have to change them ever 3 days and when they are due to be changed if I leave it past the exact hour I put them on ...then I am in absolute agony. The cold wet weather is terrible as I feel as if attacks every limb..even with the patches on...but at least I have a lot more relief. Ask about the patches with your GP. Hope this helps. Take care

Hi - well lots of people have different symptoms. Mine include constant chronic pain all over, especially in my arms, legs, knees, hips, back, neck, wrists and hands. I have severe muscle spasms in my legs, ankles, back and neck. My arms and legs jump. I have pins and needles in my arms and fingers. I have headaches constantly. I pass out and have blackouts. ( definitely not epilepsy before anyone suggests that - it's part of fibro at its worse!). I have constant tiredness - but that is also linked to my CFs. I have trouble concentrating and remembering things as well. My hands and feet swell for no reason.

I also have IBS as well as the fibro and CFS.

Apart from that I'm fine!!!!!!!!!! :-D

For me its what symptoms I don't have !!! :( Has your GP not given you any medication? I really think you should be on something with the debillitating symptoms you describe. My GP is fab as is my Rheumatologist (Professor Herrick Salford Royal who specialises in Fibro) I am on Gabapentin 3 x 300mg 3 times a day. I started off on one & built up gradually, I also take 8 paracetamol, & have just changed to the slow release Tramadol which I find much better. I can take 50mg x 8 in 24 hrs. I used to take Nortriptylene at night (certainly helps with sleeping) but I felt so woozy in a morning with a horrid dry mought all day I came off them. All of this never takes the pain discomfort etc away but certainly mkaes life managemable. I also have RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) which also aggreviates the fibro & vice versa.
If you have seen a Rheumatologist did they not find the 18 points on your body that when touched are excruciatingly painful? they are a good indicator of Fibro.

Physically I get aching, stiffness , sore and aching joints in the morning. Also fatigue, twitches, sensitivity to sound, ibs, fluctuations in body temperature, pain in my hands, elbows and forearms, glands behind my ears and under my arms, chronic pain in my right led and aching hips. I also get nerve pain ( burning or flashes) of pain in fingers and toes and pelvis.
Cognitively I forget names, get 'fibrofog' and my memory is blown !!!
Most of these symptoms have been controlled on my meds
Pregablyn, amatryptaline , duloxatine and mst ( slow release morphine )

At the moment with the damp weather, I have aches all over with burning hands and feet a particular problem. I also have nausea especially in the mornings and think should I cut down on meds I.e. paracetamol and tramadol four times a day. But it is hard to cut back when you are in pain. All the Dr could suggest was naproxen with a stomach protector but these made me feel I'll and I don't want to be on any more tablets. I take three blood pressure, underactive thyroid tablet and mirtazipine which seems more than enough. I have had fibromyalgia over ten years now.

I will try to keep this short, but I don't think that is possible!!!

General aches and pains through-out the body
Migraines
IBS
Severe Depression
Numbness of the face and lips
Stress Seizures, (yes thanks to my doctor mis-prescribing me and my fibro getting worse)
Tremors
Uncontrolled temperature, (hot then cold)
Cold Feet
Planter Fasciitis (sp)
Blurred vision and quickly changing prescriptions
Dry eyes
Joint pain
Mood swings
Nausea
Vomiting
Visual Hallucinations (peripheral vision)
Chronic Fatigue
Vertigo
Loss of memory, (short and long term)
Confusion
Lack of co-ordination, (really clumsy)
And a partridge in a pear tree....

I am sure there are other things, but my brain is not working...

Queenie I thought I was going mental lately because I kept getting startled by "seeing" someone go past in my peripheral vision when I knew there is NO way someone could. Glad I'm not going crazy >_<
