I wrote a while back about going to a friends and having a great crafting session . My daughter and I both really enjoyed using the old hand cranked machines, they were simple and easy to use . With more time on my hands I have been thinking of starting a new hobby & after the fun of our sewing bee I decided to learn more about sewing with the aim of making myself a few tunics as I never seem to be able to find ones I like in the shops .
so for the first time I found myself going through a well know internet auction site. I put on bids for a couple of machines with no success and then tried an automatic bid . Two days later I got an e-mail to say I was now the proud owner of a 1905 hand cranked Singer sewing machine .
Pity I hadn't scrolled down the ad to read the small print. It was pick up from somewhere in kent ! I contacted the seller and thankfully after 2 or 3 false alarms he got a price for posting it . I am now waiting with baited breath for my new toy to arrive, only problem I am still not sure its in working order !! It didn't say in the ad and when I asked the seller he never got back to me !
WIll keep you posted about how I get on as I have never been crafty before but I do really want to do something useful with the extra time I have now but it needs to be something that can sit in the corner if I'm too tired or sore .
Does anyone else sew?
