A little poem I wrote

Postby juliet » Wed Jul 04, 2012 10:33 am

Hi all,
my neighbour this morning gave me a really snotty look as I fumbled my keys locking up my flat and then hobbled down the stairs, it made me really angry but then I decided to channel that into something positive and this is what I came up with...

Don’t direct that look at me,
Do not turn up your nose
You don’t know me,
This is not the life I chose

Please do not judge me
Until you walk in my shoes
They are made of lead and hurt my feet
Its like walking on screws

You tell me that i look sad
And I should smile some more
but you should try smiling
when all of you is sore

I wake up every morning
Not knowing about today
Which parts of me will work
And where the pain will stay

My brain is all fuzzy
It’s not me being dumb
It’s just this fibro fog
Makes me forget what I’ve just done

I can go for weeks
With hardly any sleep
I know you want to help
But i cant count any more sheep

And then there are the trigger points
Don’t you dare touch
Even tiny pressures
Hurt far too much

Its not me being silly
Its not all in my head
Don’t you think I want to be with you
Not stuck here in my bed?

I know its really tough
‘coz you cannot see my pain
And trust me I try really hard
Not to always complain

I hate just watching
Not able to take part
I feel like I am missing out
And it really breaks my heart

Everyday is difficult
Save my energy for work
Please don’t be offended
If friend time I have to shirk

Sometimes I feel
Like myself I have lost
This illness overwhelms me
Takes everything, at any cost

I may have lost some of the things
That used to make me, me
But I will not be defined
By this fibro, you will see!

So please don’t look down your nose,
Now you know what I go through
I will work hard and persevere
And this fibro I’ll breakthrough.
