24 years ago....I am not sure but I think my Dr knew what it was but didn't give me the name right away. I saw an anesthesiologist who also has fibro, a nuerosurgeon, a rhuemy and another Dr that spec in weird diseases of the body, LOL I can't remember what the specialty is called. I saw them all in one week and they all said fibro. My GP then said the following monday...well thats what we thought it was didn't we.

My GP treats me and prescribes meds all except of course injections are given by the anestheisiologist, the only ones who can give them.

My gp suspected it was fybro. I was referred to a rheumatologist in may who did xrays and bloodtests and said ihad fybromyalgia. I then came back on 19th june for the definate fybro diagnosis. I had more bloods taken which now shows a raised cpr le el so now i have to go back again.

Rheumy.......2 actually, as have recently found out it was mentioned to me by a Rheumy in 1992! The latest diagnosis was from a Rheumy last November.

(ME/CFS diagnosed by a guy at the Royal Free Hospital in the early nineties.)

My GP initially mentioned FM but did bloods anyway which showed two markers for either lupus or sjogrens so referred me to rheumatologist. Three weeks ago he said he thought I had FM in addition to an AI disease so started me on Pregabalin as he said rheumatology would probably trial me on this anyway. I am still waiting for my rheumy appointment. Doc said it is 18 weeks from referral to appointment. I was referred about 12 weeks ago.

My physiotherapist was the one that thought i may have fibro.

Had been refered to her many times for neck pain and each time she discharged me i was back a few months later. So she called my GP with her suspicions and my GP then refered me to a rhumatologist who confirmed diagnoses.

Hi everyone, my GP diagnosed me two years ago. I'd been to New York on holiday and felt I couldn't shift the jet lag. I had chronic muscle spasms, pain, and shooting pains all over my body. I'd also been diagnosed with depression and anxiety a few months prior. I have to say I know that they're a lot of unsupportive gps out three but mine is a wonderful man, who's very supportive and helps me so much. I sometimes feel I have a reserved seat at the surgery as I'm there so often but nothing is too much trouble. He's now supporting me with an application for personal independent payment and I'm also looking at claiming under my critical illness policy for my mortgage as working full time is killing me.

For anyone who's GP is not sympathetic then ask friends, see if there's is good and change GP, there are some great ones out there, I know .... I have one!

My GP suspected it was fibro (after previous GP at same practice diagnosed ME as bloods showed inflammatory markers), referred me to the rheumatologist who almost immediately diagnosed fibro and is now testing for AI disorders, particularly lupus and Sjögren's

Unfortunately i had to diagnose myself.
The nearest I got to a diagnoses was 30 odd years ago when a doctor said i had CFS, however that did not explain the pains i have been having since i was a child.
Everytime i saw a doctor (from the age of 8) about my pains i was told they were growing pains, so, guess i am still growing! :-D
But a doctor recently listened to me, heard everything i had to say about all the illnesses i often get and then asked me if i thought is was Fibro!! I said that with the way things have been over the years, with what i have had, and learnt, then yes i would say it is fibro, so i finally, after nearly 50 years, have got a diagnoses!! yeah!!

Now.. will someone come and help me move house?? I am dismantling furniture today and hubby is at work.. bless him ( he does 7 days a week!) :-D

My GP first thought it was arthritis and continued with that opinion until the blood tests came back. They were messed up so had to do them again--and because of the delay my GP went on hols and I saw someone else. She said it was FM straight away. Not need for specialists. I was surprised because I hear stories of people waiting years before they're correctly diagnosed.x
