Doctor give you no help

Postby Tifa2 » Tue Oct 09, 2012 5:36 pm

Hi everyone

I am at the end of my rope been told again that fibro is all in my head dont know where to go next they have taken me of all meds and sending me to pain management groups dont know what to do next. They are making me feel like am needing therapy. I was told today that it is my subconscious part of my brain sending signals to parts of my body and causing pain as it has to do with my brain not knowing how dangerous a thing is. So i asked them why after i do the hoovering for a short time do i feel so tired and have loads of pain is my brain telling ma body it is to dangerous it is just a joke. Sorry for having a rant lol just getting no pain relief and no sleep just not coping any more.

Definitely try to see a different GP Caroline. If there isn't a suitable one at your surgery, then consider changing to a different one. A helpful GP makes a huge difference when it comes to treating something like FM.

Caroline

So sorry youve had one of those Drs who just dont understand Fibro. The reason they think its all in the head is because of some research that reckons that its part of the brain the doesnt work correctly and we therefore feel pain at a higher degree than other people so a pinch of the skin to a normal person feels like nothing but to a fibro sufferer it feels like youve been stabbed. It also states that people with fibro have more of a thing called substance P in their blood than other people. So its sort of in the head but not in the way your gp related it to you. You arent imagining the pain it is very real.

If I was you id do what fluppy puffy says and get another GP. I have a great GP but I also saw a specialist in fibro privately as work wanted report and so paid. I must say it speeded things up and one meeting put me on the nhs list with the best DR . Going private got me a longer consultation and a proper explanation of fibro with a thorough examination and report that helped with all my benefit claims. It was definately worth it and I think the total cost of the consultation and report was £300.

Theres lots of inf on the web about fibro its symptoms and causes which will expain it all to you and make you see that it is a very real condition. My last consultant report stated that fibro was a lifelong chronic condition. Its classed as lifelong when you have been diagnosed and you then have it for over 5 years.

So welcome to the fibro gang we are mad but not the way your gp thinks !!!!!!!

:goodluck1: with a new gp Caroline.
Have you got another gp in your surgery who you could try? if not change surgery.

The NHS have a web page on fibro so all gp`s should be trained up about it now and be more understanding towards their patients, they work for the NHS so how come we are still hearing from gp`s who dont believe in fibro?

Here is the HNS web site, you should print it out and show your gp it
