We are DOOMED!!!

Postby tracyclarke » Fri Oct 26, 2012 5:26 pm

Just had to put this up i am bloody fuming to say the least.... :scream-1:

My mum brought me over a copy of our local evening paper today to show me an article written by a local Pharmacist. To quote a few lines
"It affects one in 50, with women seven times more susceptible than men, developing between the ages of 25 and 55."
Ermmmm does this not affect people of all ages????????? Ok the age group mentioned may have the higest stats for a diagnosis but it is not restricted to this age range, as this article makes out.

'Treatment can take a number of forms including exercise, warm bathing and CBT. Medication includes painkillers such as PARACETAMOL......... hahahaha i bloody wished!!!!

This article also goes on to say a little about pain being in the back and neck...... What about the arms fingers sholders legs hips toes infact it bloody well hurts just about everywhere....

Followed up by ... if you have any of these sypmptoms go and see you Pharmacist who can help with a diagnosis and painrelief....

What does he think this is, a bloody cold or flu that can be treated over the counter :too-upset: :pull-hair: :scream-1: :shooting:

Is it any wonder Fibro is not taken seriously enough with idiots printing this C**p

Rant over.
Gentle Hugs and Much love to all xxxx :grouphug: :blowkiss:

Well, well, if we all have to go to the ends of the earth to get a diagnosis from a doctor, rheumy, FM specialist etc. what makes the pharmacist think he can do any better. Wonder what would happen if we trooped along to the local chemist and asked him to dx us - probably look at us as if we are mad

Roll on 55, then I will be cured.. HOOORAYY!!

Fibromyalgia? Puh, makes you wonder what all the fuss is about! Just a quick visit to 'Drugs 'U 'like' for a pack of paracetomols, sorted!

Well, that's just it, how can we get taken seriously with rubbish like that. It makes us all look like a bunch of hypochondriac loonies, time wasters and fraudsters.

How can USA take this as seriously as they do yet Britain are still pottering around aimlessly. I thought we were part of the developed world yet our medical research is still in the dark ages.

My dad collects my bags of medicines (prescribed) from our local chemist, any way, one day the chemist was handing the butrans patches (a controlled drug) to dad, and he said, " does your daughter really need these?"....

Dad told me, I was furious!

So the next time, I went in to get the meds, I looked awful, I hadn't slept, my hair a mess, no makeup, and using my crutches, and tens machine on and visible.....
The man was handing me my meds, so I said to him, " what, not going to ask me if I need them?...the vitamins are to help me try and stop my symptoms (which I listed several), the amytriptolene is to help me sleep and stop my restless legs although I rarely get a full nights sleep, the citalopram is so I can try and remain sane whilst living in constant chronic pain every single day, the pregabalin barely takes the pain away but is being tried as they don't have definite cures for my illness and the butrans, yes the butrans helps to slightly take the edge off the pain that burns and that stabs me like a knife every day, I'm 30 years old and my life has been completely changed by this horrid illness and what is worse is that everyday I am having to deal with morons who don't believe my illness is real, by the way, stress makes my illness worse, so thankyou for upsetting me, for offending me, but yes, I really do need this!!!" .......
The man was very red in the face and said nothing!!
So I left, since then, he has been less chatty and a bit more humble!

Have you thought of writing to the paper in question. They probably dont know about fibro and therefore dont realise how wrong the information given is. I would email them and point out that the information wasnt actually medically correct and ask them to rerun an article about fibro but this time from a qualified medical Dr .

Its no wonder we get bad reactions from people.
Does an elephant with fibro fog ever forget ?
