Specialist - Waiting Time ??

Postby jambonnie » Mon Dec 03, 2012 3:21 pm

I was referred in March of this year to a rheumotologist specialist - i had to wait until october before i was seen by someone - then she decided to send me to another type of specialist but now i have been told i wont see him until march next year  I am GRATEFUL I live in a country where we do have health care but this seems like an awful long time to wait. I have been bed bound/house bound since August 2011 and only been able to go out for hospital appointments etc but sometimes have been too unwell and had to cancel appointments. I live in the Glasgow area, has anyone else had to wait such a long time? I dont have a proper diagnosis yet but it all started off with suspected fibromyalgia (but I also have severe mouth ulcers).

  and :welcome: to the forum.

I've moved you into this part of the forum as it's a more suitable board for what you're wanting to know   From what I have read and gathered on here, waiting times seem to still vary area by area, some wait a matter of a few weeks for their appt, whereas others find that they are waiting months and months. Could you contact the specialist you're waiting to see and ask if they have any earlier appts, or if you could be considered if any cancellations come up, it might help get you seen a little earlier.

There's lots of info an things on here, have a look round and see if there is anything useful. If you want to tell us a little about yourself there is a board "Where To Say Hello" for you to do so. Anything that you're wondering about, just ask and we'll try to help you with it

If your dog doesn't like someone, then you probably shouldn't either
