stressed

Postby angela m » Fri May 31, 2013 10:46 pm

I got diagnosed few yrs ago but dont seem to have any help
i went the docs today. I have passed out a few times falling over alot and been suffering with ibs along with other fibro problems, so i went the docs and her advise was to stop all medication and to do more with my day she said my problem could be bordem. I cant seem to find a helpful doc.

I have had no tests to rule out problems no pressure test apparently that aint accurate enough to diagnose.
So now i am left feeling like i have been cursed and no one really understands
well if i cant get a doc to take me serious how is any one else

my family think it a symptom of depression and its all in my head and the way the doctors are i am begining to think the same is this fybro just some thing i have in my head. Since one doctor who has since left the practise said i have fybro the other doctors dont even examine me. I tell them i passed out i didnt even have my blood pressure taken

i feel cursed and on my own

Firstly :welcome: to the forum, you need to change your doctors or at the very least ask for a referral to a rhuematologist for a proper diagnosis. It does seem to affect how some family members and friends may view the condition, as if a respected health professional doesnt give it credence how can they    Sorry you have had such a poor time of things and :fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed: you find a decent GP soon

I started with being referred to rheumatology they said that i dont have a rheumatology problem after a series of xrays sent me back the docs. Who said it probably fibro started treatment for that

doctors told me that i cant be refered back unless it was to do with different symptoms and they wont refer me to a neurologist because they dont see people with fibro symptoms

just a little history. I started on my hols i woke up and could barely walk since i have a permanent limp. My hands and feet get swallon i have pins and needles all the time and in places i didnt think you could get pins and needles tingling. So tired i barely have the energy to breath. Then i started with vertigo and that is very hard to bare.

I have been on 75mg of pregablin for about 18mths i keep going back telling them its not working but they said there is only gabpertin they said it works the same

i got refused dla

i dont know where to go any more. Suffer in silence seems the only option left

We have to keep pushing to get referred to the correct department, the doc who diagnosed you was obviously confident enough that they had all the information they needed. There are far more medications the can try besides pregablin or gabapentin. Its not easy when you come up against a brick wall all the time but remember we are behind you and are willing you on. :bricks: :bricks: :bricks: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

As for your claim, ask to go to appeal if you have missed it this time then wait for a little while and try again, get help to fill in the forms from CAB or DIAL and they may also help you through the appeals process :fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed: things start to work out for you

hi Angela and :welcome:

as said before, try to find a sympathetic GP

it is easy for us to be in denial, so I am not really surprised that people around us don't understand

I still have times when I think I imagine it all, I am a failure, am ashamed and feel guity
and then I have to remind me that I didn't chose to become unwell, nobody did, I am not to blame here, I would like to have my old life back etc

should you stop your meds, do it with the help of your doc, do it slowly

don't suffer in silence
come on here on the forum
it's a life line and full of  people full of vast load of different experiences
all the best :cow-wave: Lu

:welcome: to the forum Angela :cow-wave: :cow-wave: :cow-wave:

I'm sorry to hear how things have been for you since being dx'd with FM, a decent GP can make such a difference when it comes to being treated for this awful condition. I'm another vote for you finding a more helpful doc. If there isn't one at your current surgery, then consider contacting some of the others in your area. Ask if they have any patients registered with FM or other chronic pain or similar conditions or ask if they have someone who specialises or has an interest rheumy~type conditions, then see what would be involved in transferring to them.

As Denys has said, there are a number of other meds as well as Pregabalin and Gabapentin that can be used in managing FM. These range from anti~depressants that have been found to help with sleep and pain issues thru to painkillers and all sorts of other things in between. This linky explains about some of them http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Fibromyalg ... tment.aspx With you saying

Has this been reviewed at all, as usually with this kind of med, the dosage is gradually increased to a suitable level that can help with things. If you're just on 75mg, then a change in it could possibly help things.

Suffering in silence isn't the only option left to you. There is help available and now you've joined us, hopefully you will see what is available and start to take steps towards finding what will be of benefit to you :fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed:

Thanks for the replys i will have to look at changing gp practice as suggested

my last doctors visit was two days ago my doctor said to stop taking meds reduce them over 3wks and she took them of repeat. So i decided to see what suggestions other people can give me and joined this group i feel my current docs are useless with this. They always make me feel like a time waster

thankyou
