Sorry to hear you are not getting in earlier and now not your december appointment.

I can't imagine how many people are out there suffering with different ailments with the health service being so busy.

There are many of them, for all sorts of illnesses and problems, waiting to be seen by someone. On the lunchtime news there was an item about kids waiting to be seen by specialists relating to autism. Guidelines say that they should be seen within 3 months of initial referral, yet in a lot of cases the wait is much nearer to 12 months

Glad to hear you got it sorted. Back in August I was given a 4 week return appointment for the eye clinic for September. It was cancelled and given a new one for October. Now the December appointment has been cancelled and given a new one for end of February. So my 4 weeks later appointment is now 6 months later. I'm not bothered as my eyes seem fine from my point of view.

The Consultant and eye clinic staff are lovely. He explained that hospital admin keep trying to fit too many appointments into his clinics. He said all it takes is a couple of patients needing immediate laser eye treatment for retinal bleeds which he's found, that could affect their central vision , for 2 hour appointment delays to build up at his clinics. Yet they still insist he has a 10 minute time slot to deal with each patient he sees that day. And he has to read and update their notes in that time as well.

I don't think it matters where we live, the Dr's are pressed to fit in as many appointments as possible in a day. You are correct in saying it only takes one emergency to make them late.

I don't get upset about having to wait for an appointment. It could be my family or friend that needs the Dr's attention in an emergency
