Yes that maybe the case but the Dr might then get a wake up call about his attitude, also how do you know he doesn't have complaints on file already and one more is enough to spark an investigation.

If no one complains nothing will ever change, I imagine the suffragettes were told the same thing (ok an extreme but makes the point) same with the East Germans when the pulled the wall down both ott examples but proves a point.

Even if it's just a simple letter it's always worth doing because if nothing else it's on file and it will make you feel better.

What a dreadful attitude your GP has. I don't blame you for not staying at that surgery!

I have had a slightly reversed situation recently - I was dx with Fibro by a Rheumy in November last year, and my GP fully supported the dx and said he did, indeed, have a special interest in Fibro and knew quite a lot about it and could help me as well as any Fibro specialist. Well, following on from this my symptoms developed and worsened and I ended up seeing a Neuro, who never once mentioned the Fibro, and when I asked him directly about this and a previous dx of ME he refused to discuss it and obviously did not regard either as a valid dx.

My GP has since stopped mentioning either on my fit notes, so has obviously heeded the Neuro's opinion, and has not mentioned either condition to me since, preferring to admit that they have no idea what's wrong with me and probably never will.

I am now extremely confused as to whether I have or have ever had ME and/or Fibro!

What a nightmare the NHS is these days!

I am not going to complain to anyone now... there IS no point.
However it makes me a wiser person knowing ALL that I know eh:)and that way I can out talk any so called
medical person about Fibro as I live with it:)) I am just going to go back the Rheumatologist for a chat
and I will tell him all that has happened to me.... better that way I think, then at least he will know
and that I have chatted to him behind closed doors... and then IF he wants to write about anything that I have
told him, then that's up to him to write to the GP..... As for the GP I will speak to him on my own in private and tell him my thoughts.
However I just wanted you guys to know what I went though.. :yikes: :-) :-)

I have had the same experience, but the doctor literally sent me for a psychological exam. His thoughts were that my stutter, inability to walk, tremors/convulsions, pain and fatigue were all in my head. I did complain, very loudly, to my surgery, and as a locum, he is no longer working at that clinic any more. I also got a letter of apology from the surgery, and when I had a meeting with one of the GP's, he stated that a doctor, whether it is a full time one or locum, should never make a patient feel like they are not being taken seriously, nor should they fob off any symptom that the patient has brought up. I told him that I felt like the locum figured it was all psychosomatic, and that I felt less of a human being when a left his office. I had gone to see the doctor because of the new symptoms I was having. I could barely walk, my mother, 73 had to practically carry me into the surgery, and I am not the smallest person on the planet, he called my name and then walked so fast down the hall I lost track of him until he stuck his head out of one of the offices. I had spent hours typing out on my phone all the symptoms I was suffering from because my speech was so impaired, and he gave it a cursory glance and threw, literally threw my phone on the desk and said, "Tell me what brings you here today." Seriously!!! So I stammer out what was going on and he just said, you need a psychiatrist. Yes, I do have depression, little wonder with idiots like that treating me like class citizen, but my symptoms were/are real.

The frustration with doctors and their inability to see past their own noses kills me. Depression was not a real disorder until quite recently, and now it is common practice to treat people because it is physical.....Fibro is in that hazy group, if you can't see it, smell it or touch it, then it doesn't exist. I think a forum to the Health Minister demanding that Fibromyalgia be recognized and treated as seriously as any other condition, be tabled. I am tired of being a non-entity, just because a blood test doesn't show anything!

We are disabled, not because we have chosen to be lazy, all of us would love a pain free existence, but because what happens from day to day is unpredictable, there is no clear path for us. We never know when we get out of bed, presuming we can that day, how good or bad our bodies are going to be. Can I do dishes and laundry today? Or will it be vacuuming? Or maybe my body will say, nope! You are going to be in excruciating pain and will lay on the couch hoping that it will stop soon because your pain medication isn't strong enough, and a hot bath means walking up the stairs, which requires more energy then you will muster. You might eat today, but only if someone can make it for you and bring it to you, as you cannot move enough to go and get anything. You may have a sip or two of something to drink, but only if you thought ahead and brought something with you before you collapsed on the couch....this is not a life we have chosen, this a burden we have to bear....

Each and every one of us have our own demons, our own battles, and to be ignored by the medical community is enough to cause us all to just give up. But, with what little energy I have left, I think I might just start a battle with these people. I think I might just write, scream and shout, and see if finally, someone, somewhere, will listen.

To all of you, I hope that you have a pain free, and beautiful day. If you are out for an appointment, make your voice heard, do not let them dismiss you. You are a wonderful individual, who just deserves to be treated as such.

xx
