Fibro Specialists

Postby natjoshlib » Tue Aug 04, 2009 4:17 pm

Hi

Hope someone can help me I am trying to find a fibro specialist as I have a very helpful Dr but would like some input from a specialist as he says a lot of my syptomns some from the tablets I on.

It was reccommended to me to have a few names of people I could be reffered to as that is my right apparently to ask for a person by name????

I am in the bedfordshire area but my hubby is willing to take me so far.

Thanks xxx

Normally your GP would refer you to a Rheumy, they are normally the the specialist who DX you with Fibro.
Once they do DX you then they will leave it up to your GP to carry on treatment.

The only fibro specialist nearest to you IMO is Professor Davies in the London Clinic.

London is the closest. Prof Davies heads the NHS FM Clinic at Guy's (which also has another consultant - Dr Aslam) and also has private clinics.

I've booked an appointment to see Prof' Davies at his Bristol clinic as a private patient but I was suprised when the appointment lady said she doesn't confirm the appointment in writing.
I guess I'll have to ring a few days prior to the appointment to confirm it. :dunno:
Anyone who may have seen Prof' Davies privately, was your gp ok about doing the necessary bloods to take the results to your appointment or did you have to pay privately?
Thanks. :D

My GP was fine about it.

Have you been sent the questionnaires and information for before your appointment?

Hi yes I got that by email from the clinical manager.
I'm just suprised that they don't confirm your appointment in writing but I'll ring a few days prior to confirm it.
I have to pre-book train tickets for myself and my husband as my back's too bad to travel that far by car. :)
