HAD AN AWFUL EXPERIENCE WITH A DOCTOR

Postby minnie7126 » Sat Aug 21, 2010 2:04 pm

HI ALL X

I went to the local hospital the other day for an appointment that I have been waiting for for over a year to see a bone specialist, he was so rude and abrubt not a nice man at all, I am going to complian about him, but just needed to vent my anger somewhere so here I am lol !
after a lengthy conversation, he didnt even examine me other than move my ankles around, he said I have very loose joints, asked me when was I diagognosed with fibro I told him approx 20 years ago, he said (now wait for it!) that he dosent believe I have it as he wasnt present when I was diagognosed!!! what utter rubbish!! and that I should stop all my meds, go cold turkey as there is nothing wrong with me, but, he gave me an injection into my knee! so if there is nothing wrong with me why give me a cortizone injection??

when I came out of there I was totally shocked and I couldnt speak, I still cant get over the way he spoke to me, anyway I am going to compain and ask to go and see another specialist.

sorry for ranting but you know what its like when you feel so low you just need to vent it on someone,
thanks nicola x

ammenment: THANKYOU for taking the time to read my post, I should of made myself clearer at the begining, I have had fibro for almost 20 years now and on copius amounts of very strong drugs, the reason I was refered to a bone specialist was not for the fibro but because my g.p and dermatologist both believe I have psoriatic arthritus caused my an undetermined rash that I have had for sometime now all over my body, I have had stem biopsys on the rash and it came back undetermined, but as it looks visually like psorias that is what I have been treated for, but I have been getting increased pain in my joints ( knees, elbows, neck and shoulders) and both my g.p and dermo said they feel it is psoriatic arthritus as i have a few other symptoms too, that is why I went to see this so called bone specialist and he had the gaul to say that I dont have fibro because he wasnt there when I was diagognosed, that is why I felt i needed to rant, sorry for any mis-understandings x x

I think you have got confused a touch if I am honest.

I totally understand why you are angry, I get it all the time with one of my docs.

When he said come off the meds he was refering to the Fibro, Which I ust confess I had a similar reaction to from a neuro as well, the injection was for your bones which he did say there was a problem with if I have read what you put correctly.

I agree that you should complain about him and ask to see someone else, as no matter if he believes you or not, coming off meds etc is not his call at all.

What waste of a few weeks grrrrr @ him he doesn't have to live daily with pain. I def think u need another opinion as to whether or not u have fms, (hypermobile joints etc all symptoms u associate with fms & I am sure when u were diagnosed u were examined further than your ankles!! Some Drs make me so angry interferring xx oh and def make a complaint even if it's an informal one x x

Gentle :hugs: :hugs: to you Nicola, make your complaint and ask for an appointment with someone else as you plan. This Doc will send a report to your GP so they will see why you aren't happy and you can request a copy of it which might help you with your complaint, good luck and fingers and toes crossed you get a more sympathetic doctor next time :hugs: :hugs: :blowkiss:

Hiiiiiii alllllllllll  Piglet_Mini. Denys.. How have you been? Missed this place tons :flowers:

Hi Minnie,

Poor you! :hugs:

I hate it when doctors just jab a needle into people without even explaining what it's for. It's doesn't hurt to be nice does it!?

Hope you're feeling better after that horrible experience. You should complain, and let us know how it goes.

All the best xxx

A lack of diaganosis doesn't mean a lack of symptoms, so what he said was indeed utter rubbish.

Definitely complain.
