Shameful doctors' training video

Postby Min » Sun Aug 29, 2010 6:34 pm

Here's a youtube video to train psychiatrists to 'treat' somatoform (imaginary) illnesses. Note that fibromyalgia is included as one of these, even though it has been classifies as a soft tissue disorder by the World Health Organisation since the 1990s.

Oh dear yet more of 'it's all in your head' his voice is enough to put you to sleep so hopefully not a lot of his students heard all of it :!: :!: :tongueout: to him and his like

I really wish I had not listened to this!!!
It makes me so angry that I want to cry
I am amazed that any one of us is diagnosed if this is what students are being told!

Why then when I told my 85 year old Mother-in-law of my diagnosis did she ask if this was the same as Fibrositis?
Why then did she say I remember people having this when I was a girl?
Why then did this 85 year old no-nonsense woman say ' God help you, if you have to live with that!'?
Why then did she say 'that must have started in your chidhood' ?

This 85 year old, very intelligent woman, with limited medical knowledge knows more about Firomyalgia than most doctors.
Put her in training videos and she would soon tell them and God help anyone who dared to say otherwise! :tongueout:

PS until this happened I had not been near a doctor in years
:tongueout: to him and his theory

Shocked! No wonder it takes forever for diagnosis xx
The road that is built in hope is more pleasant to the traveller than the road built in despair, even though they both lead to the same destination.
