Doctors today....

Postby deathvalleydemon » Tue Oct 19, 2010 3:00 am

Ive got an appointment with my doctor today, and to say he is useless would be an understatement.
it feels like he doesnt care about what im trying to tell him and i get the feeling he looks down at me, i have trouble remembering things so ive wrote down all of my problems and if he doesnt do anything about it or refer me to a specialist who knows about fibro then i'll have no choice but go to reception and request another doctor...

there is a post box right outside my house and I posted a letter for my wife, i thought the shortest walk wouldnt do me any harm, after was out the house for all of 2 minutes, i spent the next god knows how long in bed, doubled up in pain, had to keep my feet off the floor theyre that sensitive and burning.

that is not right for a man who is only 30.

i just want him to diagnose me or at least point me in the direction of someone who can because i cant live like this any longer, i had to give my job because of it, its ruined my life to be honest

HI
good luck with the doc today
you do need a Dr that understands fibro.
i have had a battle trying to find one that understand it dose make a WORLD
of difference, even though they can't do a lot about it.
just to be believed is such a big weight off your shoulders.

have you got some gel rub you could use on your feet
i have painful feet too and use ibuprofen gel rub along with all other pain killers

I am on my third GP at the same surgery but finally have someone who seems to understand me and wants to offer support.
I was diagnosed by a Rheumatologist at the hospital - getting the referral to him through my GP was the hardest thing. The first two GPs I saw were very dismissive of my condition and treated me like a hysterical middle aged woman with depression! I referred myself to a physio at the practice who had the blessed foresight to order extensive bloodtests and these showed a raised RA factor, among other things, so I was able to get a referral to the hospital that way.

The Rheumatologist was great and my now GP showed me the letter he wrote to the surgery where he left no doubt that I DO have something going on - in his opinion it was likely FM and they should act accordingly. I also have further appointments booked with the hospital for scans and so on.

It was hard going to be heard but I really dug my heels in. It's still early days for me but I don't feel so isolated and alone now and I do feel that my GP is on my side.

thanks guys...

as i suspected, doctor was pretty much useless, told him about the hospital visit and the planned tests they want to do, showed him the document i wrote about the symptoms and he must have scanned it over for about half a second and said..." yeah, Fibromyalgia isnt anything serious anyway, just slight inflammation of the muscle" I thought my god, you try living with the pain...

he then proceeded to give me a doctors note to continue my claim for ESA with the reason being FM.

has he diagnosed me? and what now of my claim? will the ESA medical people take into consideration FM or will it just be about my arm/hand that i originally claimed for?

i have no idea...

Well he definitely doesn't know anything about FM then does he, there is no inflammation :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: how long will it take, I suppose the ESA claim will continue as it is unless someone actually brings up FM because ant report they have requested from your doc will be prior to this diagnoses.

Really thing you need a new doc though Andy :hugs: :hugs:

If they dont agree that you are entitled to ESA, throw an appeal straight in. I'm not sure but I thought they had to keep paying your money until you have gone through the appeals process :dunno: :dunno: Try not to panic though as you will make yourself worse :hugs: :hugs:

they do carry it on yeah, but at a reduced rate, which is of no use to me, doctor today gave me a note for almost 3 months, so how can i be demmed fit for work, i cant look for a job, i had a job that i left cause of how i am, so wiouldnt be entitled to jobseekers, the system is a mess for those that really need it

surely to god they will see that i had a perfectly good job that i had for 3 years and i wouldnt have given it up just to go on benefits...

Does your surgery not have any emergency appointments or on the day ones, possibly will another doc not necessarily your usual useless one :?: then you could possibly have a chance to get it changed. This system is such a shambles :( :(
