Long time lurker questions re diagnosis

Postby Speedfreak » Tue Sep 13, 2011 2:56 pm

Hi all,

I have been a member for some time but after posting a couple of times when I first joined I have mostly been a lurker!
I have been dx (is that how it is abreviated) for coming up to 3 years now, & have suffered most of the problems we all have. For the last year though I have had major skin problems on top of everything else, & after long months of tests & treatments the specialists still couldn't agree with what I had, either psoriasis or excema. I have been given Epaderm & Dovobet, which do limit the problem to a degree but can't get rid of it. This, plus a few other things I have, are leading me to question my dx of Fibromyalgia, & I am wondering if I actually have some for of lupus. Particularly, my skin looks exactly like pictures I have seen of Discoid Lupus. I have also had Hogkins Lymphoma in the past, & I just can't shake the feeling that my diagnosis is wrong, so I am asking if anyone out there has any experience of this?

If this is in the wrong section mods can you please move it to the right place?

Thank you,

Brook.
If it is to be, then it is up to me.

:welcome: back to posting on here Brook

I've left your topic here as you've basically reintroduced yourself as well as asking the question about your dx. With you querying your dx, you really need to go back and see your GP and go thru your concerns. Explain why you're thinking what you are and ask about what could be the next thing to do.

It could be possible that as well as FM, there could be something else causing your other symptoms, but the only way to find out is to see a medical professional.

Hi Brook and :welcome: back I agree with Flup you need to get your DX either confirmed or changed for your own peace of mind, so another visit to the doc is indicated

Long time lurker questions re diagnosis

Postby Niki d » Tue Sep 13, 2011 7:02 pm

Hi Brook,
I have had fibromyalgia for about 12 years now and I also have psoriasis, which I have had all my life.
I have also been dx with psoritiac authoritis. I think the doctors even have a problem knowing were each conditions starts and ends.
I have dovenex but it doesn't help at all. I was also on methotrexate but that didn't seem to help either, so I am just waiting to see the dermo again.
If you not happy with what you gp thinks you can always ask for a second opnion.
