I'm only 16 & I NEED HELP !

Postby jenniferm202 » Thu Jan 26, 2012 10:06 pm

2 years ago I was a normal teenage girl. Loved going out & partying , going out with friends even joined sport s clubs then my whole life changed for the worse.

about a year and a half ago I started to get mild back back , then it got worse and I would get shooting pains running down one leg , then it became 2 , them I noticed I would be up for the toilet up to 6 time's a night , so I went to the doctor they said that it was my weight , then another said it was my posture.

I got put on loads of pills that NEVER work still to this day. couple of mouths ago I was admitted to the hospital because my stomach bloated twice the size , it does that all the time now , I'm in a wheel chair , had to leave school , am in pain EVERY MINUTE OF THE DAY I have no support , most people think am kidding & been told by some doctors that I am 'crazy' had 2 MRI's done , the first showing GRADE 1 spondylolitthesis and another showing muscle and bone damage below where my bra sits.

cant walk for longer than 20 min (that been the longest) when I sit I'm in lots of pain. I need help drying my hair , getting in and out the bath , cant stand long enough to make my own meals sometime's , I also have IBS & suffer from depression , they just diagnosed me 2 days ago with fibro and I am really upset , it make's sense thou because of the un explained pain & exhaustion. I have pain in my neck , shoulder's , top back , lower back , hips , pelvis , elbows , knee's to the point I cannot walk and screaming in pain ! I need help , I need advice , please !! :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Sorry Jenniferm, but fibro does not cause muscle or bone damage and therefore you need to go back to your docs and get referred to a specialist you are very young to be in a wheelchair due to FM and it seems as though the extreme nature of your pain is beyond even that of most FM sufferers. Have you no support from your parents???

:welcome: to the forum jennifer

As you had made 2 virtually identical posts, I've removed one to save getting duplicated replies and us all ending up even more :-? than usual. I've also split your post up a bot to make it a bit easier to read.

Altho some of what you have described could be due to FM, as Denys has already said, some of what you have also said seems to be completely unrelated to FM.

Who was it that gave you the FM diagnosis?? With you having these other problems as well, I'm in agreement with Denys about you needing to go back and see someone to get things clarified. Why don't you have anyone to support you?? If there isn't anyone to support you, who helps you with things like bathing, hairdrying, making meals etc?? You seem to be awfully young to be having to deal with this on your own/unsupported :-? :-?

We may be able to offer you some advice as between us all we have experienced a lot of symptoms and problems. To be able to do that tho, you'd need to tell us/ask about specific areas/problems so that we can try and come up with a suitable reply for you.

I appreciate what your saying but I have been diagnoised with fibro , I have alot of symptoms of fm and have been diagnoised with it for sure here are my symptoms .
-
- constand burning pain everywhere , neck , shoulder's , legs , knee's , elbows , bottom , bottom of back & top , hips , pelvis
- constantly sweating
- I have IBS , my stomach bloats , my bowel movements are sore mostly constipated
- tired all the time
- find it very hard to sleep
- very itchy
- take very sore headache's
- wake up very stiff everymorning
- cant consintrate on things for a long period of time , i tend to forget alot of things and can only remember key words
- have depression due to this
- cant walk longer than 20 min without pain so I take a wheel chair mostly everywere , but it hurts to sit too
- I can be up more than 4 time's for the toilet at night
- very anxious

I am on 75mg of Amatriptyline
15mg of meloxicam
and a dose of didracodine NONE OF IT EVEN HELPS !

my family dont understand , I'm in a LOT of pain and because they cant see it they sometime's make snide comments , my mum & sister help me with my needs but if their out I cant do it , and if I do , I pay for it

I have been to 22 docter's 3 suggesing this and 2 agree'd to disgnoise me with FM and 1 suggesting I was crazy
I have seen normal doctor's a back specialist , a rheumatoid specialist , Physio therapist ( they couldn't treat me because when they touched me I was in to much pain ) I have been for 3 ultra sounds all 3 showing nothing & 2 MRI's and I have already said what they showed  I have also seen another specialist but cant remember the name of it  it will come back to me some point.
now I have been reffered to the pain clinic to get steroid injections & lankine patches I dont think thats how you spell it :-? I will also be offered to talk to a phyciatrist cant spell that either  xx

Jennifer, we weren't disputing your diagnosis. With you saying you have no support at all, need help with things, and how you were suffering, we were simply concerned that you were having to try and manage all these things on your own. We're parents and my offspring is a very similar age to you, so some of the caring maternal instinct started to bubble up. I don't think any of us would want to see our children suffering and would do all we could possibly could to help them.

I agree completely with Fluppypuffy's comments, you are too young to be going through this alone and therefore I am concerned as to there being no support in place for you. Also the muscle and bone damage (especially the bone) wouldnt be part of fibro and therefore would indicate that you have something else going on which may be intensifying your symptoms.

If it is damage in the joints it would point more towards Arthritis but this is just my opinion and if I was your parent I would be jumping up and down in the docs surgery refusing to budge till they sorted things out (but thats me a bit bossy!!! probably why I'm a mod   )

I totally understand , and thank you for your concern and for even posting back <3 I am really struggling , really down , I have heard that this can start through trauma and stress , My boyfriend took an overdose and that really effected me but he's OK now I took a panic attack , one of the doctor's said it was the worse he'd seen , and about 2 year's ago I was in a go-kart racing accident so that could of been the cause of the bone & muscle damage , but I really am BEGGING for advice and how to cope :( please

I would go back to the docs (not the one who said it was all in your head) and ask to be referred to a pain clinic, you also could do with some CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) this doesnt mean you are      it helps you to redefine how you think about your pain and gives you coping strategies to better manage the condition (hopefully) it isnt for everyone but does have some impressive results for others.

I would also ask about the bone and muscle damage and ask why this has occurred and what they plan to do to help you. Swimming is really good for FM (gentle) and the water has to be warm so ask for some hydrotherapy as well.

:fingerscrossed: some/one of these will help but you have to go back to the docs and insist :( :( :(

Hi Jenni
It could be the meds making you constipated, there are things like lactalose you could take which will help soften the stools they will help your tummy to feel less bloated.

For your pain have your tried wheat bags? (you heat them up in the microwave) Tens machines are good.

When i get bad heads i use those headache strips (the pound shop sells them) or a cold flannel on the forehead helps and go lay down in a dark room for a bit.

To help get a comfy night and help with the morning stiffness you could try putting a duvet under your sheet or buy a memory foam topper, they really help.

Hope a few of these tips help.
