It is so nice to finally discover a forum where all FMS or FM sufferers can congregate and talk about their own personal experience with FMS. I was diagnosed 7 years ago, I was advised that it wouldn't get better but get worse, boy was they right about that.

I know exactly how you feel. I got my diagnosis rather off-handish way at a regular rheumatology clinic appointment.

It was about 9 years ago, I think, I suffer a lot of fibro fog and memory problems now so it takes a lot of precise record checking to get the right year/date issue cleared up for me personally.

I didn't realise how life impacting and personally degenerative in both body, spirit and overall wellbeing. I was told off-hand by the specialist that went like this:

"Oh before you go, at your previous visit my colleague noted he thought you might have this condition and after my examination today I concur ..."

I wait with baited breathe as no-one told me anything about any 'other condition' before.

"I have verified that you have a condition called Fibromyalgia, here's a brochure about it and we'll just increase your daily dose of Amitriptyline to deal with it!"

So given the lack of real info in booklet and the fact I got the impression it wasn't serious and the tablets would deal with it, I didn't have to worry at all.

It took a couple of years for the full effects begin to kick in and start eroding away my daily life before I realised, hold on some-things not right here and did some serious research. Not a mistake I'll ever make in the future again. :nono:
