Just been diagnosed.

Postby quentinb » Sun Apr 29, 2012 4:01 pm

Hello all,
After 10 years of non-stop pain I finally received a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia. The last three years have been plagued with pain and extreme fatigue so it was an incredible feeling, after two years of negative testing, to actually know that I wasn't imagining all this.
It would be great to connect with anyone else who has this condition. I feel now that at the age of 43, I can finally try to make some sense of all this and feel truly grateful for this forum.
Very best regards to all.

  quentin and :welcome: to the forum

I've moved you into here as it's the most suitable part of the forum for your intro post to be in.

There is a lot of info and advice on here that you'll hopefully find helpful. And we also try to offer each other support when it's needed.

Your experiences of it taking a long time to get a dx is a not so uncommon happening unfortunately   Now you've finally got a name for your symptoms, hopefully you'll be able to make sense of things, like you're hoping, and find the right balance of things for you to live as comfortably as possible with FM as part of your life :fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed:

Anything you want to know about, just ask and we'll try to help you with it

Was extremely thankful to have discovered this forum. I have felt so isolated with this and now reading comments I realise that I'm the same as everyone else on here! :-D

Yes indeed.....the first Doctor ruled it out as he said I was male and it was highly unlikely! But the specialists at the hospital had no doubt after doing a zillion bloodtests ha ha

Hi Quentin,

Same name and age as my brother - erm, you aren't my brother are you?

Although it is sad that so many of us are suffering, it is good to know that there are other people here who understand.

What adaptations are you making to your life? I am rethinking my work environment while I am off sick this week - might even see if work will invest in some VR software!

It's a weight off isn't it finding out??

I was finally diagnosed after several years wondering what on earth was wrong, and it certainly helped my state of mind :)

I haven't tapped into the forum as much as I would like to but I will do when I can, but just from the few posts I have written I feel at home here as everyone is so nice and "in the same boat" :)

Not seen my GP yet, that'll be early next week, I've been with him for 10+ years so am hoping he isn't going to be dismissive of my FM
