hello from a complicated case!!

Postby scojos1973 » Sat Jun 09, 2012 6:57 pm

well, i dont know where to start....
i am a 39 yr old female, who is confused! i had a car accident in sept (not my fault- someone drove into me from behind) since then i have been under my very symapthetic GP... she gave me a variety of painkillers and had private physio (18 sessions) that should have repaired the pain in my back/shoulder but just made it worse. I was then referred to a trauma specialist at the hospital and had facet joint injections in march (which helped the shoulder short term but not the back).

I saw her again and she gave me dulotextine telling me it was for FM and referred me to a rhemy - i am seeing them for the first time next thursday. i have had issues (minor tbf) with my back before but the generalised pain i have now is new and extremely debilitating.... i am having major issues sleeping- i seem to be in a whirlwind, im struggling to sleep because of the pain and exhausted constantly. i have trouble with my hands and feet (Dr has also said she thinks i have raynauds).

I have problems with depression (had a full on break down last april due to issues at work and am now on my 3rd round of councilling and support) and am still taking anti depressants).

since christmas my life has been hell, my 14 year old son has been very ill and is currently undergoing tests for sjogrens (yes- i know they are linked) he has an amazing rhemy at birmingham childrens hospital). my other 12year old has aspergers and he broke his dads leg about 4 months ago, playing football, he has had to have it pinned and plated so i am having to do everything, drive, cook clean etc.
Today - after a few hospital trips this week, has been hell im having a major flair up, im grumpy, tired and just want the pain to go away!!!!

anyway, after doing some googling i found your site and have spent a few hours reading posts.... and think you re all lovely, and hopefully can relate to how i feel.

anyway- thanks for reading

  and :welcome: to the forum scojos1973

You're in good company now you've you've joined us    We all understand how things affect you and make you feel :grouphug: :grouphug: And like you have, there is often a long and complicated story that has lead us to FM and here.

As you've already found, there is a lot of advice and info on here and we do our best to give each other support when needed. Anything you want to know about, all you need to do is ask and we'll try to help you with it :bear-dancing: :bear-dancing: :bear-dancing:

Hopefully your rheumy appt on Thursday will give you a definite dx, then you can start and find the right mix and balance of things for you to live with your condition.

I really hope things start to improve for your 14yr old and that your hubby's leg in well on it's way to being sorted and healed :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

A lot of those hospital chairs seem more like instruments of torture to me these days :yikes: :yikes: :yikes: I did have a comfy one for my latest appt, but I was in for an assessment that lasted 2 hours, so thats probably why comfy ones were available

Glad hubby's leg has healed, hopefully there will soon be more good days for both your boys :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Hi SJ

Im so sorry you are going through such a terrible time at the moment. I am sure that you feel the whole weight of
the world on your shoulders right now. When a lot of us are diagnosed with Fibro, it can take a hell of a long time
to get it sorted. Getting the right meds. Treatment plans ect. It makes general day to day life incredibly
frustrating. And on top of all of that you have so much more going on. I am afraid I dont have any answers. But
what I can say is, you will never be alone here. There are many wonderful people in our forum. and since I
joined, I have learnt more, and grown stronger. On days when I felt low, I was picked up and supported. So
that I was able to face another day. Just remember, we are there for you. Now you have found this site. Please
dont be a stranger. Offload when you need to. Lots of hugs to you :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

Hello,

My fibro started a bit like yours. I herniated a disc in my lower spine last Sept, it was really painful. 7 months later I was diagnosed with FMS. I also have Raynauds, I'd always had it but I never knew it had a name or was clinically diagnosed until they started checking me for Lupus.

It sounds like you are having a very stressful time with lots of people depending on you at the moment. The more stress you have the worst the fibro gets. Try doing things to calm yourself down and look after yourself. As well as the meds I'm listening to a relaxation CD every night before I go to bed at the moment. It's definitely helping me to sleep better and that has a positive effect on the fibro.

I'm also doing pilates and have started seeing a counsellor. I was really stressed out and anxious before I hurt my back. I think lots of us mums are trying to do everything and look after everyone and end up forgetting to look after ourselves...
