Hello from yet another one!

Postby AngieR » Mon Sep 10, 2012 10:32 am

Hi. I am a newbie member to this forum but have been viewing posts as a guest for some time. I was diagnosed with Fibro about two years ago but it was calculated that I had probably had it mildly for about 12 years before that. Pinned the cause to a gut parasite picked up on holiday quickly followed by the illness/death of my dad and having to keep going for my mum's sake as an only child. Problems with son also not helping stress levels! (Note to self: this is an objective description - not a whinge!). Actually thought it was hormonal about five years ago and had my ovaries removed ultimately. Clearly it was an influence on my cycle and I feel better on the one hand but menopausal on the other :-? .

I have avoided joining before now as I tend to think that if you keep talking and reading about it - you get even more fed up. I bore myself sometimes - so God knows what others think! Although I have aches, pains stiffness most of the time, it's bearable but I get flare ups where things are really painful and, the worst bit for me is - the total exhaustion and fibro fog. It's so frustrating when you want to do things but just can't and have to let people down. I have got better at accepting it and making a point of resting until I feel more able again - but it's so hard isn't it? Have just had a really bad fibro week plus IBS and what I think may be MPS too and found it very difficult to maintain a positive outlook by the end of it - find that a few bottles of wine help! Am lucky that husband is understanding but I still feel guilty and 'moany' .

Despite all the above, I am very lucky on the work front as I run my own business which allows me a bit of flexibility. I do sometimes have to cancel appointments with clients because I am unwell which makes me feel awful but all in all it works OK. Generally, I can cope with things and, in addition to normal stuff like cleaning and shopping, I try and keep busy and active by walking the dog, gardening, socialising and my hobby - metal art - which I manage to sell a few bits of!

Anyway, I'll shut up now! This forum is great - it is nice to know that there are people around who know exactly what you talking about!

:welcome: to the forum Angie :bear-dancing: :bear-dancing:

I think you're right that some people do find that talking about FM can drag them down. Others tho find it beneficial to get things out of their system, maybe even therapeutic. However anyone decides to use the forum, from reading posts thru to joining in and becoming a very active, regular member, we're here with lots of info and advice that can be looked thru and read, and hopefully will be helpful in some way.

Your story about being being an FMer but actually living with the condition for a number of years prior to being dx'd is similar to what quite a number of members have experienced, as is the fact that you carried on doing things for those around you regardless of how you were feeling.

You don't need to worry if what you're posting turn into a whinge or a rant, it's something most of us have done at some point. As we all understand how FM can affect you and make you feel, there's always a good chance that someone else has experienced a similar thing.

I'm glad you've found a way to keep working, from what has bee said on here, I can appreciate how difficult it must be to get up and out there, esp on those days where things are flaring up and doing their utmost to make you succumb to the full effects of FM.

Anything else you want to know about, all you need to do is ask, and it doesn't usually take long for someone to :penguin: :penguin: :penguin: :penguin: :penguin: :penguin: along with a reply

If your dog doesn't like someone, then you probably shouldn't either

Thanks for your reply Fluffy. There must have been a reason to join - bad week - fancied a moan!

I noticed that UKF can get a discount with the Nutricentre. Am going to try a few new supplements and wondered if this offer was still available?

hi angie, i joined the site to get help and advice and also support,

it has helped me a great deal,

i am now a very avid visitor as its my way of getting through to myself that i am not a lazy moaning minnie that is soft.

also when you feel like you are a failure and a drain on others it is nice to be of some help to others if i can.

i am also fortunate to work in my own biusiness which like you said gives you the flexabilty,

i do have a moan on here aswell just so that i am not always bashing hubbys ears, and you always get somebody to make you feel better.

and you have already helped me with some good advice on another post.

take care xx
